Thanks McGrandpa. I don't think we ever got to know each other before I had to leave but I was a member here about 15 years ago.

Good Monin' All.  Woke up to a tad bit of cold.  Not too bad though.  I have yet to enter the great outdoors so we shall see.  But first . . . .  :java: AHHHHHHHHHH!     Tis good to have such friends.  Thanks Fafnir.
By the by McG, have you read anything by Chris Stasheff?  Think I spelled the last name correctly.  He has the Warlock in Spite of Himself series.   Quite good.  Nicely tongue in cheek.

Know what you mean by the inside knowledge about such things as mechanics.  Can really screw up a mind or two when conversing in such language.

Right, 'ere we go.  Roll cross country and go through the ditch . . . fire main gun to look . . . Oooops.  Is it supposed to do that?

McGrandpa

Good MORNING Everybody!   Beautiful day out there, but COLD too!   Still in the mid 20's F and that makes my feet and hands hurt.

McGrandpa

Wow, well we definitely had our First Freeze of the year this morning.   I watched from 2 am as the temp quickly came down to 21°F.  I heard and felt that dreaded *pop* beneath my feet too.  It has been much lower last year.   Dropped to the -10's for a week.  No dreaded pop either.  Something's up.  When it thaws we will find out what it was!

Aelin your little paragraph was truly nice to read.  And that it felt poetic was extra nice. :)    :glittery:

I recall reading the Diskworld set, once through the pack of novels.  Was pretty good, though the entire concept of a world as a disk had me drawing a blank.   I was far more into the Ringworlds.   Some call them the Titan trilogy.  Those I collected, have them on top of my bookcase.  Which mostly houses movies!  LOL!  John Varley?  I know it's a V something.  Wish the set continued.   Those Titanides (Centaurs) were lots of fun!  :D
Glad you were a Wiz at mechanics me friend, gives us a parallel interest it does!   There are plenty of things you and I could speak with mutual understanding that would defy the folks not in the trade any clue at all.  Sigh.  That is the way of humanity methinks.   Same with TechnoBabble, really!  Just ask J.  During his teaching semester he speaks and the class just gives him the blank stare.  DOH!

Good morning!
I didn't try to be poetic, nor though I was :tearlaugh:
Unfortunately, everything melted during the night.

Thanks Fafnir. 40 Creek. No coffee. Watching the temp drop. It's actually 9 degrees right now and will hit -10 by lunch time. It's not even 6am yet. Rain/freezing rain expected to be about a cm or 2 of ice by lunchtime. I walk with one or two canes depending upon how I feel any given morning. "Skating away on the thin ice of a new day" is a Jethro Tull tune, not the way to spend my morning. I'll let the building decide between Kitty Litter, Icemelt, road salt; or whatever they decide to use. Truth be told I seriously doubt it will be salt. The environmental damage from salt here is enormous and people have been moving away from it for years.

Then again... there was Don Hebert, The 50s-60's precurser to Bill Nye.
He went by Mr. Wizard, which is where Tudor's mentor's name came from. 8 )

Afraid so.. I was called a wizard at mechanics,  and was named Wizard, but I spelled it Wizzard as tis a name not a vocation.  Some get the joke. Then Terry Prachett wrote his Discworld boockes, People confused me with Rincewind. Tis rough when you're older than dirt. 8 )
Cheers

Have to admit I always thought "Rincewind"
