Giveaway of the Day

Giveaway of the Day
This is our room to always keep those that have left us, alive forever.

Everyone knows that they never really leave, because every time they are remembered, they live again.

With us they are, in our time of need, watching over our shoulders ... caring always.

I think a few of us have had loved ones that have or had cancer.  My brother Ronny died of Brain Cancer....He was a young 55 years old.  He was the 4th Boy of the family age wise.  There were 5 boys.  Two left...Me and my Brother Jimmy...I'm the oldest...he's the middle one.  I've fought a bout or two or three..Still take a TON of meds...

DarkAngel

Condolences and hearty hugs to you also sugar. Everyone who has had friends and family go thru these things knows the hurt involved for ourselves and the inflicted ones. It is something not wished on anyone.

Hugs to all!

I do not want to make this about me, but this hit me particularly hard, not only for my own losses, but knowing a little something of what she went through.
I lost my wife two and a half years ago, after being her caregiver for four years.  She was herself a double survivor of breast cancer, although liver disease was her fatal enemy.  My friend and brother-by-choice of 30 years passed away in June after trying to kick pneumonia for six months.  And another friend, who I had worked closely with on our fanfilm series checked herself into hospice a couple weeks after he died, and died two days later.  She, too, had battled cancer for more than a decade.
I salute Ms. Doherty's courage, and her strength, both physical and strength of character. It is bad enough to receive a harsh diagnosis, but to have to live with it for years at a time, watching it draw closer. To have the ability to not let it change you, making you bitter, or angry or despairing, even managing to retain a sense of humor; I think that is something that many of us might not be capable of.  I know that I would not be capable of it.
And as Ms. Doherty pointed out in the ET interview, you also have to live with the knowledge that though you are the one dying, it affects your friends and family strongly as well, many of them mourning you in advance. Ms. Doherty not only passed while surrounded by love, but retained her dignity.  Her journey is ended now, her cruel, unwinnable fight is over, and she can at last find and rest in peace.
I hope that those of you who followed her career more closely than I have can find a measure of solace and peace yourselves.  The world has lost someone strong and brave, and whether we were close to her or not, we are all diminished by that loss.
Take care of yourselves.

I agree with you on that one Aelin....So very sad...

Aelin

Saw it online a moment ago. She fighted a lot, but her husband was no help on the end, at the contrary. So sad.

She finally is at peace from her battle, so sad she was a great actress. May her memory live on:
