I love it when it does some good...but flooding is another matter...

Agreed.....I think the water is forming in the streets because of the drains not being cleared off since last fall.

I remember the floods in Charleston. It was especially bad when there was a neap tide during torrential rains.

Oh it's not just StarTrek Agent. A few days before it was Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica stuff.

I've seen some of the Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica content at DAZ also, but there is a difference. They don't go after fan made items the way the franchise owners of Star Trek do. There were several fan made productions running on YouTube for a while, A few were continuations of the original series, and the best of those was produced by Vince Mignogna (might have that last name mispelled). There were even certain guest stars who participated by reprising certain rolls they had in the original series. Then there was Project Axanar, that dealt with the Kittomer Disaster, and a 3D animated series called Star Trek Aurora. All of these were threatened with lawsuits if they did not cease and desist their production efforts. There are also many products made of Star Trek ships, but offered for free only as this somehow allows the fans to have something they can use for their own art, I have several of those models myself. That said, I rarely use them, because I like to write short stories to go with my images, and it would be too easy to step over the boundaries that CBS and Paramount impose. I do the same with models I have of Star Wars ships and so on. I don't have any of the Battlestar Galactica content, but I have a couple of Babylon 5 ships, The Orville, and Galaxy Quest. Of them all, I think The Orville would be the most likely not to go after folks doing fan productions of their franchise. Why? Because Seth MacFarlane is the kind of producer who embraces fans, and wants his work expounded upon.

It is really detrimental for any production company to be jealous of fan made art or productions set in their franchises. They get seen as tyrants who don't care about the fans of their works. It has been said that the best form of flattery is emulation. CBS and Paramount could take a lesson from that.

Now that there is a lot of content for DAZ Studio for Star Trek, if DAZ did not make an agreement with CBS and Paramount, we may soon be seeing a big stink raised about it by the owners of the franchise. I hope that does not happen, because it will affect many artists who use the applications offered at DAZ, or at least the content. I am one of those artists, and I have lots of their content already.
