This anime has 26 episodes and is a complete story.

A young woman named Fuu is working as a waitress in a tea shop when she is abused by a band of samurai. She is saved by a mysterious rogue named Mugen and a young rōnin named Jin. Mugen attacks Jin after he proves to be a worthy opponent. The pair begin fighting one another and inadvertently cause the death of Shibui Tomonoshina, the magistrate's son. For this crime, they are to be executed. With help from Fuu, they are able to escape execution. In return, Fuu asks them to travel with her to find "the samurai who smells of sunflowers".
Having started as a manga and adapted to anime, this story takes place in historical Edo period, referencing some actual facts and events of the time, with some modern influences, art styles and scenes. The music is interesting and uses 6 themes throughout the series, it's modern and even had a bit of rap, a soundtrack is available. A video game was created later, though does not follow any of the events that happened in the story, it's mainly a beatem up game for Playstation 2 with both single player and multiplayer functions.I find the art style very interesting and reminds me of Afro Samarai. The characters are well thought out and developed well as the story progresses, giving back stories on each. You will find both drama and comedy in this show, as well as plenty of action. I really liked how they did the sword fighting scenes, the martial art scenes remind me of Cowboy Bebop. I highly recommend this show to watch...though be careful with regards to children as there is violence.
