Comes in handy if you ever run into a jumbled up mess of a folder. Most of the Japanese sites have this problem.

If any has further question on the how and where post it here.

"But who is stronger, truly, I asked myself, he who continues to wound and bleed himself to please others, or he who refuses any longer to do so?"

I just copied this and put it into a notepad and stored it with my other notes.....  Thanks for the info.....

When one gets a hold of a pack that is just a jumble of items it is a pain yes, but with a little time you can tame the beast.

So.

First off you will have to make several folders. I use the original folder as my starting point, then I create one called "Geometries" inside of it I create another folder named "the product name"

Next create a folder called "Runtime"
Inside of that you would have the Camera, Character, Pose, Props, Material and so forth
Next in each of those you create another folder with the name of the product again.

Now you can go to the jumbled up assortment of files.

.obj files go in the geometry folder.

.cr2 & .xmp files along with their .png file, go in the Character folder

Some older products have an .rsr file those would also go in the Character folder.

.fc2 file go in the Face folder along with any .png file showing you an image of it.

.hr2 files along with their png files go in the Hair folder

.hd2 and their .png files all go in the Hands folder

.lt2 and their .png file go in the Light folder

.mc6 and their png go in the Material folder. If you run across any .mt5 files those also are Material files.

.pz2 and their .png files go in the Pose folder.

.pp2 and their .pngs go in the Prop folder.

Some products come with a pre-built scene these are in the Native Poser format .pz3
Create a folder called scenes and drop them in there.

.py are scripts and those go in the Python folder.

.jpg are typically texture maps so they all go in the Texture folder, remember of course to create a folder with the name of the product to keep them all organized.

Template files are recognizable due to the fact that are not a texture map, when you have these place these in you Template folder.

Now as mentioned for every folder category you have you must have a folder nested within, with the same name for the product. This enables Poser to be able to find all the correct files when you load the product.

This particular one though I just installed it to a stand alone prop folder of mine and when I opened it everything is where it needs to be so no real adjustment needs to be made to use it.
I do see several items with the .3ds extension on them which means to load them into your scene you would have to go to File > Import > 3d Studio then follow the prompts.

I don't know where I want to place all either :tearlaugh: :tearlaugh:

This is going to be one hell of a learning curve..... :thud:

But it keeps the grey matter active.

Aelin

For a real answer, i pass my turn, because i start just mine in Poser 10 too. And not sure to understand the problem  :psycho:
But normally, you don't change of place Geometries and Textures.

For example, a pack "hat and shirt" by StudioArtVartanian. Ways in my runtime are:

Runtime => Geometries => Studioartvartanian => Yannis Clothing
             => libraries => Props => Clothings => M4 clothings => Yannis Clothing
             => Textures => !Yannis Clothing

You can change of place packs in libraries at your convenience, for a better find. But if you don't place correctly Geometries or Textures, Poser asks the emplacement, and turn, turn, turn...  :hypno: before it asks
Perhaps you want folders by figures, by vehicles, by architecture, by... i don't know how you want place all.

Well since I have not heard this question posed before was not aware that any had this problem.

Probably because I ran into in the past with my anime obsession downloads a while back after work tonight I will answer this in detail if no one else has by then.

Basically you have to make all the different folder of a runtime and drop all items in the appropriate folders. Knowing which files go where is the trick.

Like I said though more details tonight unless someone else replies first.

That would be great since I now have star and would love to start practicing with Poser 10
