Skadi
|
Skadi is the Norse goddess of Winter, archery and skiing. She is sometimes depicted as riding a polar bear or being pulled in her sleigh by two polar bears . She is the daughter of the frost Giant Thiazzi who was killed by the gods of Asguard. Skadi attacked, and to appease her anger the Norse gods allowed her to pick one among them to be her husband. allowed to only see their feet she chose Njord, the god of the sea. She wanted to live in her mountains, he wanted to live by the sea so they got divorced soon after.
Later Skadi married Odin, and according to at least one legend, one of her sons with Odin was Saemger, the first king of Norway.
