That Was Fun

They had danced until the DJ spun the last disc. The staff had packed up the lights, bar and stage. They were the last people out of the entrance door.
Olivia, Celduin and Lisdra walked across the grass towards their vehicles, holding hands to stay steady across the uneven surfaces of the overgrown parking lot.
"That was so much fun," said Olivia. "I wonder what became of our shoes."
Lisdra laughed. "I really could not dance in those boots."
Olivia said, "Thank you, Celduin, for a wonderful evening. And I got to wear my new dress."
The night was almost as loud as the party had been with insect and more obscure noises coming from the surrounding forest.
Behind them the DJ's van started and began rolling forward. Across the lot, Celduin's car's lights came on.
In the distance there was a hoarse, deep throated cry. They hurried.
