Excellent job for just trying it out.....Well done...

This video was put on the time line with three spaces between the key frames.  It did slow down the video but it is rather choppy.  Now to find the right sequence to create a clean walk cycle.  After that then will refine the walk to look more natural.

Round up all the usual suspects!

He does seem a bit in a hurry.
He certainly looks that way.  The fun comes from the challenge of doing something that is hard, overcoming it and advancing beyond it.

This video is made of poses for a walk cycle.  Being  a minor success, since I have never done this before and getting the walk cycle down.  The speed of the walk is very fast.  I believe it has do to having the key frames to close to each other on the time line.  The next video I do will explore this and see if I can get a slower walk out of the poses.  Also I used seven poses for the walk for each side of the body.   Further studies have reveled that this cycle can be done in 4 poses that will work as a walk cycle.

With poser you had quarternian interpretation.  not bad as long as you had the limits set properly and turned on. Still had the occasional arm through torso\head. but easily fixed with key frames. there are walk presets for both Poser and Daz, good for starting points.
Animation is so much fun, setting up, rendering (long times), checking, fixing, rendering (ibid)..... but in the end you have something you can show and have pride in. So far? you're doing great Mike!  I'm pulling for ye.
Cheers

go,

From looking at the walk cycle there are eight poses that repeat from the walk cycle, as you study it the head dose not stay stationary there is a wave effect that goes up and down as a person walks.

History of transportation your theme?
I am not sure what the theme will be right now.  Just learning the basics.  Next thing will be creating walk cycles from poses. Even though there are other ways of creating a walk cycle I think the basics first would be a good thing.
