Thanks McGrandpa. I don't think we ever got to know each other before I had to leave but I was a member here about 15 years ago.

Welcome home J!  Sounds like you're doing way better now.    :woohoo:

Bit on the wimpy side still, taking a shower and the trash out for tomorrow made me sit the hell down breathing heavy for a few, then again when I was walking the halls at the hospital I got the same way and that was just .3 of a mile and I am out for the count

I can see where this as the surgeon stated is going to be at least six weeks before I can consider normal activity

Har!   Glad you're spirits is up man!    Back when it was my turn, after I got what I needed to get the gut churning again, I was going down the hall sounding like a fog horn.  Heh!    Ohhh doncha just wonder!    SO how're the nurses up  there?  All mine were married.   Darn!

The good looking ones were either married or had boyfriends ... got absolutely no where with a single one of them.

I swear it is always the same where ever I go :tearlaugh:

Well, thank you all for the kind words and wishes it is appreciated. The neighbor brought over my laptop and it is much easier to type on this then the phone and besides that the phone isn't signed in to the site and I have one of them goofy 20 character passwords. :thud:

Nevertheless it looks like I survived something that could have been a really scary event. Ye ole appendix was perforated, had a hole in it and the tail end was necrotic (dead tissue) so yes all sorts of nasty was going on inside me without me being fully aware of it.

If medical crap builds slowly I do not see all the dots to connect them together as it is to subtle. Basically that is what happen here, granted there is no definitive as to what happened and how it got like this but it happened and as Luffie said, my stomach was painful, and did not go away (and since I have no over the counter meds in my place anyway) and the blood presure was above normal and not going down, it was time to man up and say "help"

Maybe later in the thread I use for everything else I will share additional details but not here that way you lot do not get to terribly bored.

Anyway I made progress last night, considering one set of meds was to force the issue of a bowl movement. Including the one where you do ... yep that one. The disturbing part was had to do it twice. :puah: Anyway it was not long after the second drink and set of pills and the other thing that all hell broke loose.

Sounded like there was a wind ensemble playing "Flight of the Bumblebee" in there for a bit ... oddest thing one could ever hope to not hear, and I do not want to experience again.

The good news is that depending on how the night goes and what the morning brings I might get the drain removed and fixed up and sent on my merry way, by later afternoon early evening ... MAYBE ... a lot rides on how my body is going to react to solid food tomorrow. Today I got up to the liquid diet and what a storm that caused after the fact. :tearlaugh:

Good Morning to all.....

Just a quick check in since I have some appointments today and so does Lorna.....

It's still up in the air if "J" is getting discharged today or not.  He still hasn't passed gas nor had any bowel movements....but then again...I don't think they've had him walking yet.  And as most know who have had surgery....you don't go home till you've passed the gas or proved the poop.....

Plus they are still draining fluids.  I think the appendix may have burst just before surgery which is common if one waits to long to get it checked.  They drained 90cc after surgery and 50cc last night.

And he just now wrote that they will get him up walking in a bit today....though he IS complaining about  "Showing Off Your Ass in these hopital gowns" and "having to drag along the drain unit between my legs"....

Anyway...that's what I have for now..... And as we all know....when "J" is griping about something....that means he's feeling better.....

OK, so they did get his appendix out!  Yaaay!   Yeah they told me they will have an army of aides and assistants come get me up and make sure I walk around  right after my big op.  Same day.  Th doc wasn't joking either.  They DID come and walk me down the hall.   I had a roll around IV tree which I named George.  Plus, because of that man hating doc yanking my vas right outta my (nevermind) I ended up with a pair of bulls (nevermind) hanging around.   Made walking a bit odd for a few days.  But I wanted to get on home, and did my best to either fart or BM.    The bad thing IS they had emptied and 'turned off' my gut to part it and take a section up to use elsewhere.  And they went to restart it with nothing?  Aw get real!   After two weeks the doc finally relented and got me some pinto beans, some cornbread, some mustard greens, a can of V8 Juice and she refused to have the kitchen send up Buttermilk.  I said softly, that's ok I know where to get some.  By your leave Ma'am?  She nodded but looked sickly.   I shrugged.   When she left I got me ready and ambled down to the cafeteria.   Said I needed two cartons of their buttermilk, and a big hunk of good ol cornbread.  Took that back to my room, the nurse came in to supervise my supper, and I  had some BUTTERMILK and CORNBREAD!!!  Dammit!   Next day, I was farting right along, and everyone heard it.  Next day I was back home :D   They turned off the gut, I put the 'culture' back in to jump start it!  PLENTY of culture with buttermilk and cornbread.   Would have been more with some of them beans n greens!  ;DAll that ensued after my radical cystectomy and other odds and ends.   Most of the folks on that floor were getting colostomies.  I kept all the guts, lost the bladder.    Anyways, that was in 2013.    Gimme a "Cancer Survivor' ribbon!
