As for HSOTD  the odds are slim to none of a second series. It was a writer/artist pair of cousins and one of them sadly died.  The manga was much better than the anime but the anime is one of those I rewatch when I need some good laughs .  Saeko is my fav.. lol.

I look at all kinds of things in anime...



The art style is important and the further advanced it is the more I like it. I like detail and so much anime has little detail, especially the older stuff. I like to see all the little lines and shading to show character in a face or how a body is developed, not to mention how freely clothes move in scenes. Then you have one's like Seraph of the End, Gangsta, Monogatari series and the Jin Roh movie. I also take a serious look at 3D versions of anime, that is still a work in progress, but they are progressing.


Speech is very important, how well it lines up with the movement of the mouth and the dialogue has to be good. A large part of this is how smoothly the voice actors pull off their lines, as well as the words suiting the scene and characters. A good show of this is Gangsta and 91 Days. 91 Days did a damn good job with the speech for the time and place, seeing as it's mafia booze running during the hey days of prohibition, and why I said it reminded me of Godfather series.


A great series that had wonderful art and dialogue, not to mention great music is Cowboy Bebop. I hope the live action remake does it justice.


Of course story line is very important, I get really annoyed when they create a series or movie and it's all about whether or not a woman will fall out of her shirt or they have panty shots galore. High School of the Dead is just such a series. I thought it was a great story about high schoolers trying to survive the zombie apocalypse and the suggestive angle was in overdrive, it was overkill they way they did it, and apparently ever female is DD and much larger in the chest department. I wanted more story and there is definitely more they can do to keep it going, but don't know if we will get a second season.


Now as for genre's, I run the whole spectrum for that, especially with newer anime created in the last 10 years. Seems to me to be more grown up in story and character development, seriousness of some themes, dialogue and voice actors are getting much better. More interesting art styles are showing up now as well. We will know anime has reached a pinnacle when it can give me nightmares for 3 days like the original Japanese version of grudge did...lol

Just read the bio on it, sounds cute

I run a serious gamut of genres and styles.  But the key to all is they must have a good story.  Pity is World's End or SukaSuka has not been translated over but for the anime..
