Saving for Poser since DS4, all I was able to do until now it's doing export of object. Yet, it's like if the UV map can be different between DS4 and Poser.
At least it's what happened to me when I tried a conversion for the freebie of a member last year. I never found the clue for why.  :whatthe:

It's easier from Poser to DS4 than in the other way :thud:
And my DS4 is on the other comp I won't open before 2 days at least.

I am going to finish my images for the contests for the next couple days, after that I will start trying to save them and tell you what is happening, will see if I can follow you instructions and finally have success. I do have an empty runtime folder setup that Deni gave out a long time ago. Has all the folders properly labelled and all. I have to make sure I have my textures done and are in the texture folder and make sure my obj's are actually finished with no problems, I think those are fine though.

Aelin you may be able to help me with the stack of freebies I have. I can save in Daz format as I have Daz 4.10, but I suck at saving for Poser. Currently getting my folders  and files all set up so I can start the saving part...lol

Are they packed in the "Content" folder with the other folders, including the "runtime" inside the Content folder, CalieVee?

Are there both DAZ (.dufs, etc) mixed in with the Poser files?

They can come in different variations, depending on what time in DAZ's history they were packed, repacked or if they're packed for DAZ in one set and Poser in another.

Basically, I extract them into a folder for "DAZ packed things" and remove what's inside the Content folder and paste it below it in that folder.

I open a second window with the runtime I'm going to use in Poser. Then I put the documentation in my "Documentation" folder for that runtime.

Then I open the "runtime" folder and start putting them in their proper folders manually.

Say the first one you have to unpack is "Geometry". Look in the runtime where you want to put it and find the Geometry folder in THAT runtime. Open it.

If you just unpack the unzipped ones into the exact matching runtime folder in the runtime where you're putting them, you shouldn't have any problems.

Also, if it's a folder with a vendor's name and you have other things by that vendor, they are probably already going to have a folder in that runtime. So merge the folders, if asked.

Anyway, that's how I do it. Let me tell you, if you do it enough times, you start to learn some about how things work and are set up. It's good to know.

Oh, and if you do have the two file types both loaded in the same folders, you can sort the files by TYPE and just delete the DAZ format ones all at once, highlighting them and hitting the delete button. You don't need them in Poser. They just take up disk space.

Just watch out for dragging and dropping into the CORRECT folders, because it's easy to slip.

Darn....I had them both already...and decoded......geeeezzzz...

thelufias

I love that I came in here late......I got all the answers......WHOOOOHOOOO.

Aelin

I use both because I started with DS3 and I have some habits inside. Consequently I'm faster with it than Poser.
And I love the Poser format  :haha:
But yes, DS4 can have it's good points, like some exclusive areas - or characters.
And it's good to have the both when we created freebies, to be sure it works basically in both programs.

I precised the wheel works in DS3 because sometimes some stuff working in Poser can't work with Daz.

Well I would use both if I could afford Poser, alas it's not a free program like Daz so that is how I ended up using it all the time.
Not free but it's one of our sponsors. It's the reason for why I have Poser now  Otherwise I was continuing only with DS.

So I'm a loner then Ray, cause I don't use both!     :phfft:

No, you are not and you know that - or you should, as there are several of us who have stated we will only use Poser - several times. Aelin is the one uses both. Most are one or the other.

My point was to learn in your thinking to quit ignoring the fact DAZ users exist just because you are not one. Think outside your own box. We are a community of people who do 3D and may or may not use one or both software programs. Quit being a Poser Elitist Snob. Nobody really gives a :soapy: - you know? And it gets old.
