ClamX Virus Protector -- Mac
« on: July 05, 2015, 06:23:38 PM »
Although our Macs are less susseptible to virus attacks, we do get them from time to time. When that happens we go looking for a virus program that is inexpensive or free. Unfortunately for many of us ClamX is no longer free but it is a very resonable price now.

It runs silently in the background, watching folders you ask it to watch or everything. Then on the schedule you provide it will automatically come on, check your entire computer and then issue you a log in whatever text editor you wish it to use.

Very easy preferences setup, quick to install/uninstall and does catch the "bugs" that may sneak in.

As their site states, Powerful. Easy to Use. Lightweight.  That sold e at first cause we don't need another program that bloats our systems down. After useing it for years now I made a great decision.

ClamX is surely a program to keep an eye on since it can only continue to improve with each update that follows.

Thank you, DA. I bought a pretty expensive virus protection program for the Mac, but it just took over. Wouldn't leave programs alone that I told it to, and deleted the frames in my Image Frame program. I finally had to delete it altogether.

When I first got my Mac--one of them -- in 1999????, it came with a free one that was great. but it when kaput and was no longer made, then there was Virex that was awesome...in many ways like this one and it was free but also went out of business by the time I got  the newer mac it was not included.

All others are bloated, take over --- like some PC ones --- and I got rid of them too. Occasionally I get a naughty bug but not often and this one works like a charm. It moves it to a Quarantine folder and still tells you it is there with each daily scan....like all av's they do sometimes sneak through the door while it is looking at another..LOL

I am happy with this one and I forgot to mention they do have a trial you can grab to see if it is what you want.
