Speaking of tummies, I have a tried and true recipe for...well, when you are having 'stomach flu' or well let's just call it what it is - diarrhea. This remedy works within 3-4 hours to rid you of the problem and it's very simple.

This is a 'tea' or tisane. Boil about 4 ounces of water on the stove so it's bubbling hot.
Pour the water into a tea-cup - preferably one with a saucer - and then add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and stir well, dissolving the cinnamon in the water as best as you can. Place the saucer over the top of the cup and let it steep for 15-20 minutes. Remove the saucer and take 1 (one) tablespoon of the tea. Replace the saucer over the cup. Every hour after that, take 1 tablespoon of the tea. Within 3-4 hours/doses your problem should be cleared up.

If you don't have a tea-cup with a saucer, you can use a coffee cup and put a salad plate over the top of the cup instead of the saucer.

It's not something that happens all the time, but when it does you want some relief and this is it.

For Diarrhea:

Nutmeg is a good natural fix for diarrhea and works FAST.  It's a bit yucky true but works wonders! 1/4 tsp nutmeg spice, easiest to get down in a drink, like a bit of hot chocolate or warm milk+honey+cinnamon helps overcome the nutmeg, but alone works fine too.

For stomach gas:

And to beat a gassy stomach in minutes? Coriander seeds.  soon as you feel gassy, chew up some coriander seeds- half a tsp of the seeds, and swallow.  The seeds' husks absorb and break down the gas within minutes and waaaaay better than any gas-x medicine.  Make sure to take with water or some kind of drink because the seeds are a bit scratchy to swallow. Make sure you chew them well, it works faster that way. :)

For colds, head colds, chest colds, sore throats, sniffles, flu:

For a painful sore throat try making chicken broth, but add FRESH ginger, garlic, and onions (the sharp pungent onions are best for head colds).
wash the ginger, scrub it well. slice into thin pieces- i eat them but some people won't, up to you- but great immune system boost!
Peel and chop the ginger- remember for a tip to peel ginger- press the garlic piece with the flat of the blade gently until you hear a light 'crunch" sound, the skin will have split and it will peel right off. Also i've seen a tip to shake all the garlic pieces in two big metal bowls but I don't have two big bowls so haven't tried it!
Slice the onion- two VERY good ways to do this without crying. the way I usually do it: set up a small desk fan on kitchen counter so that it blows directly across the onions and away from your face. if there's a window or open door even better.  Blows the particles away from you so no tears.  OR, fill a baking pan with water, put onion in and cut onion under the water, the particles will in the water, not in the air, so no crying. :) just make sure you dry the onions before next step.

in a pan with a bit of butter sautee the onion and garlic until light brown. Add to slow cooker.  Add the sliced ginger, chicken broth, and water. I usually throw in whatever veggies i have, like peas or carrot, for color. When it's hot and bubbling, I add chopped chicken breast and a bit of soy sauce.

Then let it all cook for a couple hours or so until chicken is done, onions are soft and ginger is soft.

it's amazing soup, and amazing that no matter how badly I make it (first time I thought i'd be clever and chop everything super tiny- like the chicken and the onion and ginger to help it cook faster, but it made a huge pulpy mess) but STILL was absolutely delicious (ugly but delicious) and my pneumonia and bronchitis throat pain was always soothed from it! So now, I always keep a pot of this stuff simmering when I am sick, it helps So much and it's delicious and very hard to ruin. Plus, with the ginger, chicken, garlic, and onion there is so much germ busting, immune system boosting power in the soup. :)
If work was easy and fun, we'd call it vacation instead of work.

Here is another:

You should drink at least three 8 oz glasses per day, they say the longer it sits, the better it tastes. You can eat them as well but they are intended as flavoring and still work, so that is a personal choice. The Vitamin C turns fat into fuel, the tangerine increases your sensitivity to insulin, and the cucumber makes you feel full. Try it for 10 days and see what you think!

Ingredients per 8 oz serving Water 1 slice grapefruit 1 tangerine ½ cucumber, sliced 2 peppermint leaves Ice – as much as you like Directions Wash grapefruit, tangerine cucumber and peppermint leaves. Slice cucumber, grapefruit and tangerine (or peel). Combine all ingredients (fruits, vegetables, 8 oz water, and ice) into a large pitcher. Stir & Enjoy!
