I am looking foward to practicing some more with these techniques.

Again....Yes Mam! I hear and obey.... See....I is a good boy...sorta.

Since this thread is already about light rays, I do want to touch back from time to time with more cool effects like bending and auras. Kinda like light rays through a prism. It's a step up from Amaranth's example.

LOL

Sorry for the rant but I am getting fed up with apologies, that are not needed and the quasi-bickering"

Me being a dunce see what is being done and I would love to see more things like this for my working in Poser a bit more.

The main reason I started splicing my stuff in PS was cause I could not get the lighting to work like I wanted and saw everyone else do. Tis why my scenes --- if rooms and such-- are done in Poser but the other types are photos/poser renders spliced together and sometimes I even render the clothing seperate from the characters so I can get the shading the way I want it in PS...which lately I admit is not done as much...getting lazy

So yes I wanna move on to more entertainment.

Damn good thing I didn't understand a single thing that was being said.....and I plan to keep it that way for a bit :tearlaugh:

DarkAngel

I for one was under no misunderstanding. Even a newbie would realize that the stairs are a prop and in no way considered a light anything...LOL

I do not feel the apology is required for anything at all and still thank you for the light semi tutorial here. I do most of the main lighting with supplied lights but when I go to enhance I use Photoshop.

Thanks loads and yes Amaranth's additional info is a great idea too, that is where the creativity comes into play also.

All creation ideas are welcome from anyone here at the forum and trust me those of us that do not  or are not able to get the programs to "NOT RESIST" us hold these tidbits invaluable.

Now enough with apologies and everything else and -----

get to work on another great idea. :funny: <--- see I am just gaga

oh yes another thing....your title

Lightrays many will take this as the actual way to  yada yada yada --- I may be a dunce but I took it to mean exactly the way I still see it as   Light Rays vs lightrays

just light Anita's Light gels and PS brushes and her  other light products...a means to add those beautiful rays of light that seep thru the clouds at times.

I sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding concerning this light ray’s example. My attempt here was NOT to introduce something new, but to remind of something old. This method has been employed by some of the industries biggest names in gaming. Names like Ubisoft, EA, Eidos Interactive, Artificial Mind and Movement, Bioware, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Crystal Dynamics...etc...etc....

Though there has been much advancement in computer graphics since the early days of 3D, this method is in fact still employed to this very day! Not all of us can afford super computers so we must make the best of what we have. With this example as with any; your greatest tools will be your own creativity and willingness to go beyond any obstacles that present themselves. 3D is NOT real! It is an optical illusion and nothing more! You can mimic any aspect of reality in computer graphics, but you can NOT create it! You can do anything you want too…your only enemy preventing you from doing so would be YOU!

The RaysProp used in my example should be in short a dead entity; it casts NO shadows nor does it receive them. The light parented to it will handle shadows that are to be cast upon any surface in your scene. You can go a step further as suggested by our “Queen of the dust bunnies” and add a custom black & white image to the light to mimic windows as shown here. The white areas will give the illusion of allowing light to pass though while the back areas will block the light.

Experiment, play with it, create your own unique effects and maps, the sky is the limit!
NEVER let anyone tell you that it can’t be done! Where there is a will, there is a way! “Can’t” never could do anything…and that’s the bottom line!
