Typically this is a “fresh out of school” technique. This is merely meant to teach how to direct the attention of the viewer to points of interest in a scene.

True Art is much more than pretty colors and highly detailed subjects; it tells a story from the Artists point of view. These techniques, like many others are meant to be forgotten as your skills increase. To a seasoned Artist....they have very little value.

Not to say that such techniques aren’t important; on the contrary….To the beginner they will be what makes or breaks your success in telling said story.

I tend to find that when I concentrate too much on things like the Golden Rectangle, grids and spirals, my work suffers and I and my viewers are all rather less than impressed.

Radkres

if You want to use the Golden Rectangle on this site  with a max 2000 pix across and 1236 pix either tall or wide. if that helps anyone. :hypno:

Well now we have heard of this but have never worked with it before no wonder my muse is in rebellion at the moment. Time to :dominatrix: her back into shape with this tip.

I agree with you 100% on getting the focus off the middle.  To many times you miss the other great things done in a creation because you have one focal point....

So essentially your cropping what is not in the 9 part grid?

Cropping is a lazy way to compose. Most will start with a grid and go from there. I like to start with a very inclusive render and crop at the end.
What are your thoughts?

Rule of Thirds Grid
As you can see I've put the focus the intersecting point.

As you can see, you're eyes are drawn towards the subject's eyes and the flame.
I will show you the grid I used
