Ali's Safe, Low-Fat and Guiltless Eggnog

Ok, this isn't a real recipe, it's something I made up, and you can probably alter it with whatever you have on hand.

I'm pregnant, and craving eggnog like CRAZY.  However, not only can I not have any of that lovely rum-eggnog stuff, but I was worried about the calories that go hand-in-hand with eggnog (and my baby is already on its way to being a 10-pound baby... learned that my husband's family almost always has LARGE BABIES) so I wanted to watch my calories.

So, when I'm at work, I almost never have time to eat.  My school office is "open" which means I work at a table in front of the door, and the kids talk to me and the parents talk to me, when I'm not teaching, so dinner at work seldom happens. My doctor gave me a HUGE can of this low-fat protein powder that tastes vaguely vanilla-flavored (very mild).  I mix it with milk and drink it on the go at work.

Today I got the idea to make this powdered drink into a fake eggnog mix.

I put in:
Milk, lowfat
protein powder (you could sub almost any kind of thing here, maybe even some carnation instant breakfast or slimfast mix, it just helps the overall texture of the milk to have more substance and be more creamy)
artificial rum extract
cinnamon
nutmeg
vanilla (I used powdered vanilla, as that's more commonly used in Asia than extract)

I shake it in a bottle but if you blend it in a blender so its all frothy and extra smooth its REALLY nice too. 

Now I can enjoy the Christmas drink without feeling guilty!!!  It''s pretty much what I'd have to drink anyway, but in a flavor I love. :D

Don't know if any of you would care to try this, probably most of you can just go buy some kind of lowfat eggnog anyway.. but they don't make it here in Asia, for sure!!!
