I'm back from the cup of cocoa :winks:
In fact, I made until this part (didn't think to use cleanup), but when I saw the number of little things I was certain to be on the wrong path  :yeow:
I'm going to continue the reading.

LOL - I know you are good with UVs - I too was surprised how many segments were created. On the final UV they all get expanded and will be on top of each other. Your Tetrapylon UV was very neat and orderly and this one looks like a big mess LOL. The reason is the branch texture it is just a little patch so it needs to get repeated many times. So this model was out of Ivy Gen and you modified the mesh?

To start, sorry, I noticed only with the tuto above I gave you the "scene" with my trial- tube to recreate the trunk if...
Yeah to have a tree, the shape coming from Ivy Generator, but it was too much "right cuts". So I smoothed the trunk. It's not perfect, but better.

A good test for Ivy Generator and to try new things in W3D.

I know, I found arbaro but it never started on the computer. Maybe something is missing in java, I don't know.
I tried also Tree Generator, but trees with holes in the Geometries are euh :thud:

I looked a video for Sculptris also but the vertex at the end are very huge. It's a bit better with the button to disminish them, anyway the thing is always complex. And to hope have a tree with good textures, the passage is necessary in another program - like W3D.

Sure you can, time for me to remove the bad stuff I made with the cylinder. But I try to do uv map really with tools I have under the hand.
And all I have for the moment it's Wings3d, UVmapper (basic) and Hexagon (now on external). Wings being the more useful in this situation I think.
Now, maybe a trick of Blender can give an idea with tools of others

Hi,

I'm testing the program  tree[d] - it's freeware that is no longer supported but the interface is easy like Ivy Generator and so far is working out.

Here is the download link and what I found so far

https://web.archive.org/web/20130915030534/http://www.frecle.net/index.php?show=treed.about

Tut Video

Other things to know =============

Screen Resolution can't be more the 1920x1080

The Object export will load into W3D if you want to smooth.

The Object export will load to DS but you have to manually add textures.

It comes with textures but the leaf textures are png with a alpha map, it's easy to make a black and white opacity map or use your own textures.

So far I like it - if you try it let me know what you think.  :shiv3:
