For some reason my printer has decided that it doesn't want to print within the page boundaries, or even on a page sometimes.
Makes nasty noises now when it take a piece of paper in and just forget printing on a 4 x 6 card.
Tried all sorts of things to see if it would behave and got nowhere.
So did the nasty and uninstalled it and then reinstalled it.
Even worse now it doesn't even print on the page. And now I get paper jams left right and center when I try to print.
Any thoughts before I waste money on a new printer next paycheck?
Oh btw
HP Photosmart D7630

Have You been here? you might not gotten all of the old install out before you reinstalled also you might look and see if there is a newer driver for it. O.o

Not sure which direction to go on it as it was working fine previously.
Granted the night it decided to get frilly it was raining, and I did get a blip on the power because I heard the UPS take over for that millisecond.
Hasn't been the same since.....
-
Was the printer on the battery back up or just surge protector? Even a small over jump could fry it You know IC don't take much to fry.
-
Damn it was only on the surge side.
Does that mean what I think it does ????
-
Surge Protectors only minimize but not stop large power spikes and if it was the least resistance then it died.
-
Now that thou has reminded me of just how I have things connected :cry2:
I see that my next paycheck is going to need investing in a new printer.
And I so liked it, a six cartridge printer had great color printing capabilities.
-
Get a cheap Black and white laser will save you money in the long run. Use a Color for special jobs but You might need to looking to a small battery backup for your printers to keep them going.
-
Methinks a second back up is going to be in order to accommodate all devices, and since I do print a great deal in color we are going to need another printer.
I see that, whether or not I like it
I wonder if I can get another just like this, since I have cartridges for it. :thud:

Many thanks we now have additional research material to back me up when replacing
-
Never noticed the inverse law on pricing before.
Nonetheless good information and now we wait till payday

I like the Epson better then I did the HP I had. And you don't need an all in one. Do you fax anyone or receive faxes?
Knowing you, you'll probably say yes...but I don't think many have fax machines anymore LOLOLOL.
But the Epson Stylus NX330 or higher is a wireless printer that has a scanner and has a fantastic price. I also got one for my Mother and Granddaughter and it works great and mine is now 3 years old and I've never had a problem with it.
-
Never fax anyone so that is not an issue for me. I print color a lot and have found the multi-cartridge printers give the best results.
I have definitely had this printer for some little time though so I got my monies worth out of it. Just sad that a darn power surge made it go "cuckoo for coco puffs"
-
The Epson has multiple cartridges and two types. Standard or High.
-
Well, gives me two for comparison shopping them, that be a good thing.
Although with extra cartridges for the HP on hand here, and if they be compatible kind of know which way I would go.
But price comparison and all is still the intelligent thing to do ... oh what I said ...
:thud:
-
Believe me, if you find a new printer that takes old cartridges...that's a first. Ever wonder why printers are so cheap....
They make it up with the cost of the cartridges. And remember, though your printer says it comes with cartridges, those are not full blown cartridges....they have enough ink for a few projects and that's it. So buy cartridges also when making the printer purchase.
-
Always have done that, I print way to much to be bothered with a second trip that soon.
-
hi5-3:
-
It just got more annoying, today I bought a new printer and nowhere is it mentioned what versions of software it supports. Well, it did say XP, 7 and so forth.
The pissing me off part is that it doesn't support XP 64 bit nor after reading the details on the CD .... 64 bit any version. What a frelling crock.
Now we will have to return it and find something that will work, Gods above what a frelling pain in the :waveass: this has become.
-
How to find a compatible printer driver for a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895612 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895612)
see if this helps
-
Dude you are at the top of the food chain as surprisingly the first listed item worked and I was able to print both 4 X 6 and full page print outs.
We will check this out a couple more times just to make certain all is holding, yet so far, so good.
-
This is peculiar the printer turns off by itself almost as if there is some sort of power save or sleep function.
I didn't set it up to do this and do not see a option listed in the properties tab for the printer.
Any thoughts?????
-
A lot of them do that nowadays Energy star compliant service if I remember.
Which printer did you get?
-
Ah ... it does have the Energy Star label on it.
It is a HP Photosmart 6520 and although I do not like the loss of the other two cartridges. We are down to three plus black for a total of four. Previously we had five plus black for a total of six.
Although this does print, scan, and copy and has two paper trays.
-
if you got it plugged into usb you have to change the settings in the drivers under Eco tab.
if you go wireless or network it auto disables it.
don't you just love greenies screwing up the world one dumb idea after another!
-
Color me lost
Looking under the properties tab for the printer I see nothing labeled drivers in there so this must be elsewhere and am not entirely certain where to look but am poking about trying to see if I can find it.
Yep not all that clever on the "in the background" workings of computers
-
Then I suggest you turn it on when you want to print because it will keep shutting itself off.
Or Move it to the network and tear the USB port out.
-
Can't find a work around for the auto eco power off as long as you use the USB port.
They say if you move to vista or higher you can use their driver software to turn off the feature.
also something you might want to think about is going network printer as that is automatically turns off the eco features as long nothing is plugged into the USB port in the back of the printer. o.O
Very unhelpful sorry. :thud:
-
It is no big deal eventually no matter how I look at it I will have to upgrade to a new system with Window 7 on it.
Who knows maybe the new system will allow it to be install via the software and that function or tab will be accessible.
In the meantime turning it on when I have to print is not that bad.
-
:tearlaugh: Watch out though I do have my quill pens and inkwell set from the days when I did Old English lettering by hand.
-
It is a lost and dying skill for people to do calligraphy (beautiful writing)
either with a true quill or as I was able to do as I practiced I could freehand it with any writing instrument.
-
:@u:
Granted it was a grand reply and quite amusing.
:thud:
-
I kinda agree with Amaranth...your luck with electrical items seems to be taking a turn for the worse of late :tearlaugh:
-
Twas just the printer that got googly eyed ... haven't had anything else recently get "stupid" on me.
Knock on wood before I jinx myself.
