Yonaguni, Japan - Is it manmade or not?
« on: October 10, 2019, 11:45:32 AM »
The great debate about Yonaguni is, is it man-made or just a lot of curious looking huge blocks of stone? Personally, it looks man-made to me. What do you think?

It lays off the coast of Japan underwater, where the elevation was once above water before the Ice Age ended and most all the glaciers melted into the sea. Just like these days in effect.

Post your Yonaguni information here.

For what I read online since I read "Underworld" books by Hancock, I think yes some men made it.
After, I don't know if it's 100% men, or of they used their environment to do it. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me it xas the case in some parts of Japan, to use what environment gives to adapt on what you need.

For those who want to make an idea with photos (I hope it's ok Ray), here some captures made by Hancock's wife.

Thank you for posting the images from Mrs. Hancock. They make a great pair, don't they?

You know, I believe that you are right in thinking that they would use natural things to create something 'other' by man from it. I certainly can't see how the Basin is 'natural'. I saw something about it that posited that all the varying directions on the lines cut into the top of it were actually like a map to point the direction to go to certain places in the Pacific. It might have been Hancock that did that. I'll see if I can find it and post it. Or have you seen it, yourself, Aelin?

Yes, she gives an excellent pov from what he is talking in books

Maybe you are talking from the grid than Hancock made for Heaven's Mirror? I know he talked a lot of places in the world like a true grid around the planet. But the last time I checked, the prize of book was :OMG: , when it wasn't the taxes for it comes in France. So I wait before to ask for the book. And I never saw the grid, but i's maybe in Underworld he talked of that; and in Magicians of Gods he did a little too.

I agree concerning directions, there is also often cardinal ones on old sites.

All those topics remember me a site in Indonesia, maybe by men too. Will try to post a summarize of that in another topic.

I haven't had a chance to look for that yet, but I will.

Yes, most sites have alignment with the cardinal directions or some set of stars in those directions.

Are you thinking of Gunung Padang in Indonesia? That will go in the "Ring of Fire" section when I get there. There's another one there that Hancock visited but I can't recall the name of it at the moment.

Does your French Amazon have used books for sale, Aelin? Sometimes you can find them cheaper there.

I never found the book translated in French. I looked on Amazon for English version when I had to ask for something else to my aunt. It's at that moment I saw huge prizes - like I don't want an occasion I can't check by myself.

And you know, the prize for Magician of Gids for example was less than €11 in English; for French version (Amazon or even by a conventional library) it was more than €22. Choice was done quickly  And finally book read in one month, with dictionnary not far away in case of unknown words.

Oups, I read upside down your messages :tearlaugh:
Yes, and I did a topic on. I made the mistake to put the topic in that section; moved it a moment ago in the "Ring of Fire".

He visited so much areas that's hard to remember all of them. More, a lot of authors ends to visit a good part of same sites than others one day or another.
Are you thinking to another site in Asia? Or Gobekli Tepe in Turkey?

Ah, I found it. It's called Nan Madol in Pohnpei. I had to remember what kind of rocks it was built with and I knew it was like Giant's Causeway in Ireland (the rock). It's basalt columns. Sometimes have to trick my memory to find things - lol. Thank you for adding Gunung Padang! That is a most interesting place indeed!

Yes, the prices on some of those books - especially when they first come out - are horrible :yikes: A lot of them around $35-$40. I don't know what the exchange rate is these days. I can see where you would indeed prefer the French one, but barring that an English one with a dictionary will have to do, huh? That's not too bad - a month to read. I'm impressed my dear!
