Lights On

You want to make love with the lights on.
I stand before you in all my glorious imperfections.
My shyness moves within me
like a poisonous snake,
slithering just below my skin.
Unaware of this danger,
you embrace me and turn me to the mirror.
What do I see?
My insecurities blur my vision.
You look at the mirrored me and smile.
I want to scream and hide.
My throat is closed.
I kneel mute before the reflected me in your mirrored arms.
The sight suffocates me.
I am bound and gagged by the light.
I wish for darkness,
wanting it to cover me in security,
freeing the mind me.
My body goes through the motions,
bent and twisted to your desire
until the act is complete and you fall asleep.
My shyness continues to slither beneath my skin.
As I lay beside you, with the lights on.

I wrote this a few years ago and this is the image I created to go with it.  It's funny how our perception of ourselves, and what we project as our belief onto other people.

Well written and an excellent picture to go with it.

Tis a very difficult thing to help one understand that they be truly attractive and to stop tearing themselves down and to honestly accept the perceptions and compliments of another and thank them.

And yes I like it with the lights on.....<smile>

How true this rings...

When I met my husband, I was so insecure I wouldn't let him see me without my makeup on!!!  he wasn't allowed to see me until I put makeup on in the morning.  And the insecurities didn't stop there.  It has taken a long long time, to find courage to turn the light on, to take the even greater step of loving yourself ...  I hope you've fought the good fight and aren't afraid to see yourself.

I admit, I'm only partly there. My husband and my twin sister are the only ones I let see me without my makeup on....

As it is written a start and as time passes it becomes easier

Then again I do go to a nudist resort with no difficulty

Wow, you are indeed brave... I'm still getting my mind around my doctors and nurses seeing me when I eventually give birth... for now I have a lovely natural doctor with no internal exams for the time being!
