« on: September 13, 2013, 01:50:13 PM »
We are forwarding this info once again in case you are still having any troubles getting into the site....or other problems you may have with the site.  So far everything works great and no problems have been reported.

DNS Cache Flush, Clear, or Reset in Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Frequently web connection problems can be traced to a corrupted DNS cache. Flushing this cache is an easy fix to many of these problems.

Flush dns to get a new name resolution. Also flush dns cache when you can’t access a newly registered domain name. You can simply flush your dns cache anytime to get new entry. So, Flush your dns cache now.

There are several different methods to choose the one easiest for you and your system. Sometimes just clearing the browser cache is just not enough.

To flush DNS cache in Microsoft Windows (Win XP, Win ME, Win 2000, Win 98):
    1.    Start -> Run -> type cmd
    2.    In command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns
    3.    Done! You Window DNS cache has just been flush.

    3.    RIGHT-click on cmd.exe the Command Prompt program
    4.    Select Run As Administrator
    5.    In the command window type the following and then hit enter: ipconfig /flushdns
    6.    You will see the following confirmation:
Windows IP Configuration Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

Method #2
1. Click the Microsoft Vista Start logo in the bottom left corner of the screen
2. Click All Programs
3. Click Accessories
4. RIGHT-click on Command Prompt
5. Select Run As Administrator

7. You will see the following confirmation:

Windows IP Configuration Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

Method #3
    Open the Start menu.
    Go to Run.
If you do not see the Run command in Vista, search for "run" in the Search bar.
In the Run text box, type: ipconfig /flushdns
Press Enter or Return, and your cache will be flushed.

Windows 8:
You need to open an administrative command prompt windows. In Windows 8, to do so:
1. Press Win+C in combination to bring up the ‘Charms bar’.

To flush the DNS cache in Linux, restart the nscd daemon:

    1.    To restart the nscd daemon, type /etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart in your terminal
    2.    Once you run the command your linux DNS cache will flush.

On newer versions of Linux you may need to use:  /etc/init.d/nscd restart

To flush the DNS cache in Mac OS X:
    1.    type lookupd -flushcache in your terminal to flush the DNS resolver cache. ex: bash-2.05a$ lookupd -flushcache
    2.    Once you run the command your DNS cache (in Mac OS X) will flush.

Newer versions of MacOS X should use the following command:
    1.    type dscacheutil -flushcache

Method #2

    Go to Applications.
    Go to Utilities.
    Open the Terminal application.
    Type: dscacheutil -flushcache
Press Enter or Return, and your cache will be flushed.

***PLEASE NOTE***

This just in about doing this and online game playing. Some online games store their temp files here also -- that cache is where game files are stored.

So doing this to attempt to clear out something wrong with the computers DNS (and browser locations) may also clear out your game files for online games--- making it necessary to restart your game from the beginning.

I do not know which games does this either so do so if you do not mind restarting the game from scratch again.

Still on XP Pro and fortunately have not had an issue as described ... knock on wood ... so useful this will be if I ever go up on the food chain of operating systems.

Nice to have the details in one spot accessible

Thanks for the tip, Mary. I've copied the info and did the flushing. I have yet to see the result as I'm going offline as soon as I have typed this in and press the enter button. Good night... ::):
