Some commands in Wings3d

To obtain Wings3D, go HERE

************
With the "pack" of videos in another topic, i learnt already to use more commands in W3D.

For example, i hadn't idea when we click with right button of mouse we are able to do more.
In fact, when we choose a shape, like a square, we are able to click right in face of the "square" name. Another window is opened; look the screen capture below.

It's same for all shapes.

Of course, we have a clue with the scroll wheel. But it's not the case for all options during the creation.

But when we select the object and decide to move it, we use often the Left click on "Move", then choose a direction. But what happen when you make a Right Click on Move? Well, the object in our case change it's color! Red is less red.
I haven't a perfect control of this command, but choosing a point (on another object for example), then a second, that seems to give a special direction to our object (a green arrow appears).

It's same with the Rotation: you turn around a choosen point.

Scale Uniform: Click on a point or edge on another object for example, and the scaling move will be from your selection.

Scale Axis: click on an edge, and your object stays in its place, but extend or disminish on the same axe than edge. Edge ould be on the object, or on another.

Scale radial: moving and scaling. I haven't totally analyze this.

You see? In place of usual axis x, y and z we have the choice to move objects.

Subdivide: The Right Click allows to have each squared face divided in 4 equal parts.

Auto Smooth: to choose the angles. For example, if you write 60°, all angles above will be changed by the command. But on a square if you write 120°, nothing changes.

That was some commands for an object completely selected. The following later.

In fact, we have many possibilities but we don't see them each time at first look. On some commands, like "Plane cut", we have also the possibility to use the middle button of mouse  :yeow: But it's more rare.

Few other things will be added today i suppose. If i don't crash Wings again  :explode:

When we wish to move objects, often it's at random. But in fact, we have several possibilities, for several based on units of grill (1 unit here = 1 "square" on the ground):

- keep SHIFT and move your object on the choosen axis (in the usual Right click menu). You will move 1 unit by 1 unit.

- keep CTRL and move => 0,1 unit each time

- keep SHIFT + CTRL and move => 0,01 unit each time.

Otherwise, goose again you axe. Then click on TAB button. A little window is opened. Choose the distance of move. (1 = 1 unit).
It's useful also for angles.
If you want move after the middle of scene, don't forget the mesurement becomes negative. So add a -

I have used tab before but didn't know about the commands keys!  :ty01:

There is an other place menus hide in plain sight :) When you create a cube or other primitive object there is a difference were you click. Clicking on the little white box opens a menu with properties for the object. Clicking anywhere else just creates the object with default settings.

 :ty2: for adding!

An other thing i forgot: the Dissolve! This command has also a right click in fact. The right click on Dissolve is an help because it allows in some occasions to remove isolated points.
