Title: Crochet
Post by: Carolann on January 06, 2013, 03:19:07 AM
I love to crochet and wondered if anyone else out there does too.  I like to work from U Tube tutorials which I find very helpful and I can work from pattern too.

Why not post any tried and tested tuts here.

My favourite for making baby booties and so easy to make.

I am self taught at crochet too and love making granny square afghans, mainly cause they can be made in many different colors -- unfortunately -- I find when I sit to crochet now it puts me to sleep...lol :ahhhh:

Yep I am self taught. I look in awe at some of the amzing things experienced crocheters can do. I love doing the granny squares too and have just done 2 baby pram blankets, one in blue and one in pink ready for our new grandbaby when it arrives as we dont know what it is yet.

Believe it or not Mother did teach most of us how to do certain things like this , I managed embroidery before the old man did his things as to this is to girly or whatever the heck his reason was, cause now I certainly would not mind having me a Dr. Who scarf all 20+ feet of it.

I have several "old" books on crocheting and seeing those doilies I remember my mom and I sitting down doing a bunch of them. She could do some pretty intricate ones. I do some that were a fancy to me. I still ahve a bunch of them that lived through our bit of living in a rainforest (while the roof leaked so badly).

I still use them too but since she died I find it hard to do the doily thing, could be why crocheting puts me to sleep now.

I tried knitting but one can make a long chain for awhile...could never get the hang of turning or actually making it look like anything.

I have made ponchos, scarves, doilies, caps, small dresses, afghans, bed dolls, jewelry (when I was 18 I taught my co-worker how to crochet and he made necklace for his mom) and potholders (those looked like little dresses), crocheting is fun.

I adore crochet, Tend to do it most of all now. I made a blanket this year for my mum for xmas and it turned out beautifully, I was really happy with it, I'm now working on, well lets see... LOL a baby blanket and a polka dot bag, I can't find patterns for the bag so I'm kind of making it up as I go along ....

I know this is an old thread but I hope the crocheters and knitters are still here. :)

I love to knit (especially socks) and crochet. I'm much better at knitting than crocheting but I recently crocheted these slippers and Infinity Scarf. They were both super quick and the accompanying videos really helped. :)

I admire the persons who make the crochet, because when I tried I did only a sequence of nodes.  :tearlaugh:

I know knitting scarves, bonnets and that's it. Unless you want pullovers in a strange shape.   :psycho:

Oh wow, how did I miss this topic!! It's been here for quite a few years and I honestly never saw it.....

Well I do hope you girls are still crocheting/knitting...I crochet since I was either 10-13 years old. Taught by 2 aunts, one taught me to crochet chains and more chains, the other finger crochet...the rest is self taught, also love the video tutorials... I can read a pattern and at some point get lost...couple of months ago, I was able to follow a written pattern and did it!!! Of course I changed something in there, lol...I was learning basic knitting but the teacher moved to another state....Some of my works(below)

These are so darn cute.....  My Grandmother use to love it also.  My Mother and Wife couldn't even sew let alone do this LOL.  I spent more time on the sewing machine then both of them combined....
