Good morning!
To receive TV, we should have one of the new tv models, otherwise it's no longer possible to receive channels on the old one. The programs are stupid nowadays, and the "old" tv (hadn't 6 months when the 'new' tv came on the market for the change) works fine with DVD machine. So DVD are good when we need to look something.
At the time of the "old system" of channels working, we had only 6 channels and it was some times bad, the rest of time not bad.

Can't find DVDs around here anymore or the players for them. I've an old Blue Ray player in the bedroom I haven't used in years that I hope still functions. I have hundreds of movies that haven't made it to my media server. Computers don't come with DVD drives anymore. The cable tv providers here delete your saved videos after 4 months. I fear that a lot of media is being lost. Not because of deteriorating media (film, tape, ect) but simply because the big media companies with all the content don't have enough folk view or listen to it so it becomes unprofitable to have it available and it disappears from the list, lost to the future or even the present.

The hypermarket of the town still sells DVD and Blueray machines. But almost no longer DVDs. It's not a problem, only stuff from years ago are interesting, we have no interest for nowadays Hollyweird, and it's worse for French movies.
Yet, time to time we find second hand DVDs, like at the monthly "braderie" or the "braderie" of last Sunday.
It's sad really that you can no more find Bluerays of DVDs around you PDG. And same for the use on comps; here they still come with the part to read disks, on towers or laptops. But I wouldn't try on a comp with W10, too horrible for the comp.
