Odds & Ends

Have no idea where else to put this so guess here for now.
Came across this little tid bit of info on facebook and thought I would share. Stephen King and Marilyn Manson are Icon's in their respective fields, so for them to join forces would be awesome.

As much as I like King's writing, and Manson's music, I just can't seem to rise to the level of fannishness that the authour of the article gets to.
Looking at the proposed cast, well.... let's say I prefer the cast from the 90's serie.
Cheers

I have both the book and the dvd, as with most Kings stories. When there is a remake, I watch first for the entertainment value, then again later to see the differences and which is better.

Most films I watch, remember they're "based on" then either enjoy or laugh at how hilariously they messed  up, rarely I get upset for the percieved insult, which usually resolves itself as "they dinnae get it."
Everyone whilst reading has an image of the characters based on author's description. The ones in the article are completely wrong for head canon.  I just hope they don't neuter the story or turn it into a popular gorefest, like moat remakes have.
Cheers, and nice talking with ye. 8)

Jamie Sheridan was Randall Flagg, appearance and voice matched what I saw and heard whilst reading.

Considering the age of the original actors, the remake would require new actors unless they use CGI and that probably wouldn't be good.

That's true... Jamie's gone, and a CGI replacement would be horrible.
I don't mind too much, but lately the remakes I've seen just use the name and basic concept, changed for "the modern world".
Lovecraft's stories work best as "period pieces" unless it's only the concept that's brought into modernity. tryong to "update" the story usually ruins it for me.

Just because I can:

As you may know, the Japanese are fond of designating random days of the year, based on how they sound phonetically, or sometimes based on the kanji. February 22 is cat day in Japan because the numbers sound like nyan nyan nyan, and August 2nd is Panties Day because the numbers 8/2 can be read as pan-tsu in Japanese. December 10 is Moe Day because the date in kanji looks like the kanji for moe. Because the Japanese word for good is ii (pronounced like the letter e), and because the number 11 can be read this way, there are a lot of these random good days this month. Like today, which is ii oppai no hi or Nice Boobs Day.
