Heavy Metal & Heavy Metal 2000
« on: January 01, 2019, 11:13:19 AM »
WARNING: NOT FOR KIDS...VIOLENCE LANGUAGE AND NUDITY

This time I bring you two movies, Heavy Metal from 1981 and it's sequel Heavy Metal 2000 release in July 2000. The soundtrack from both movies comes from some major artists of the time and are a blast to listen to, bringing back memories of younger days.
...
Heavy Metal is an anthology of science fiction stories from Heavy Metal magazine, with voice talents from the likes of John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Harold Ramis, Percy Rodriguez, Susan Roman and many others.
Music was perform by such stars as Sammy Hagar, the group Revo, bloe Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Stevie Nicks, Nazareth, Journey and several others.
All the stories are tied together by a single item called the Loc Nar, identifying itself as the sum of all evils. It plays a part in each story, showing it's influence on mankind. Rotoscoping was used for the entire film, except for the end, which they did not have time for when the release date was moved up, the exploding house is the only part not animated.
...
Heavy Metal 2000 was done 20 years later and includes the voices of such stars as Michael Ironside, Julie Strain and Billy Idol and others. This movies is only one story and centers around the graphic novel The Melting Pot. The music in this movie was done by artists Pantera, Insane Clown Posse, System of a Down, Queens of the Stone Age, as well as Billy Idol himself, and many others. After the release of the movie a game was released called Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K and in 2011 filmmaker Robert Rodriguez bought the rights to Heavy Metal with plans to make a third movie. Since then he has hinted instead of a tv show, there has been no word since.

Oh my giddy aunt I remember the first time I watched Heavy Metal  .... well sort of, kind of, maybe, if I don't strain myself.

Trust me that old saying about better living via modern chemistry ... was put to the test that night.

I should really watch it again so I can see what it was all about :iminnocent: and since there is a sequel I should get caught up.

The animation in the trailers remind me of Aeon Flux

"But who is stronger, truly, I asked myself, he who continues to wound and bleed himself to please others, or he who refuses any longer to do so?"
