Ok ..puts on the old aerospace cap... It is basically a form of ground effects vehicle. Formula One race cars use a form of it to achieve their speed. Look up Caspian Sea Monster for the most famous example.  Although some can achieve true flight they generally fly just above ground level.  The major benefits over normal aircraft is lower fuel consumption and much greater range and payload.

They are all related.  Rather fascinating design..Boeing was experimenting with it for awhile. Not sure if took it any further. There are some personal aircraft out there using the concept.  What I meant by some can actually achieve true flight.

J have you ever seen a pelican flying low  over  water  they are using  the ground effect for  lift  which  means they can fly further using  less energy

The only time we have seen the pelicans flying in that fashion is when I go out to NASA for work and or renewing my site access.

But at least now I have a better understanding of the term, thank you for the education

Microsoft gifted that to us when they updated Windows 10 a little bit ago.

Right click on the taskbar, go down to "News and Interests" and select "Turn off".
