Well one of my externals is dead!

It is never to work again, even if it wants to. Tested it with a different cable and no joy, it won't load up at all, no hum, no vibes...the patient is gone.
Now I get the misfortune [actually my lazy a$$ is forced now] of reloading the info on a spare...I am glad a few years ago I got a couple of externals while they were on sale.

Not too bad  just gonna be timely. It was the one that held my Runtimes....the only thing on it so I now have to go through and remake its folders, re-open the items and plop them back in, and above all ---- feeling sorry for myself in needing to do all this work again. Not fair of me to feel that way but I do, LOL started way late last night until the wee hours of this morning, got maybe a few hours of sleep, and now will need to continue and I only have one folder started. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have it set up the way I did and I did need to weed out the ones I or my girls didn't use anymore but I was procrastinating that part and now by force....I feel so annoyed at myself not to mention am being a big baby...LOL


It will take a while. so I will apologize now ahead of time, in case I eat someone later on.

I'm sorry to hear that Mary. And no chance to test the disk in another 'armor'? I mean sometimes it's possible, depending of the brand and without opening the disk itself. Like that, you could test of it's really the disk, or the 'armor' which is dead.

It is a little 1T Seagate. I have always had problems with some Seagates, both internals and now externals.

I tested it with 3 different cables, including removing the cable from one that is working now, and on several computers, it is deader than a zombie.

It is deader than a doornail.

The Hard Drive Data might still be there but getting to it might require a shop to extract the data. O.o But Reminder if You have it all might be better to build it back but when you have a Runtime done copy it to a Cd or Thumb drive maybe? O.o

All I can say is....Have fun....Been there a time or two myself...But on a good note....it's like cleaning house....you get rid of all the shit you can't use anymore...
