I swear I have the worst luck, was going to run a slide show of pics I have on an external drive and what happens ... Sorry this media is write protected.

  All I want to do is view it since when does that crate a "write" prohibition. I am not trying to write to the file I am only trying to open it  .... or am I missing something here  ... again?

It could be that malicious virus could have gotten in to your computer like ransomware there is a way to unlock it through the command prompt, through read / write, but this video will show you free way through software to decrypt your files.  These viruses could even come through email that had virus attached but not always by the sender but by hackers.  I have this problem from time to time too.  The bottom video is very good.

your media is write protected.   means no temp file as place marker can be written.   damn primitive coders!

Not always but occassionally ext-drvs will write protect itself when disconnected, then winders "forgets" to "put the tab back". Theres always the ctrl-A; properties; set attribute.

Well, waiting on the HVAC guy to do his thing and get my heater working again we did the first and foremost fundamental thing all people should do ... well, except and besides it was morning and I was not in the mood to wait

How cute the tech replaced the blower motor and it still was refusing to give heat ... well after another hour of troubleshooting finally found the problem. Some how the damn blower motor shorted the circuit board ... you have got to be kidding me.

Some times it just sucks to walk in my shoes
