Indeed that would be annoying quite rapidly. However my problem revolves around the fact that they were never ordered to begin with, how droll.

Damn one of those days that I am glad that it is over. The four of us from the shop spent our day up on the roof of the hospital replacing lines damaged by careless, thoughtless, individuals.

Why, am I so cranky, simple got up there and the temporary line I had placed in to tie us over for the damn TCO and until I got all of the hardware, was trashed as in capital letters and bright shining lights.

It is so frelling irritating ... at any rate from loading up and returning back to the shop call that an entire day spent getting the three lines replaced, protected, terminated on the roof and in the comm room, grounded and all those other pesky details that I take into consideration when doing an install.

At least it is completed and on the morrow I do not have to work on the roof sweating "body parts off" still have more work to do to get the DAS completed and then it is time to commission the system with the added remotes. Then at some point if they ever get all of the dust cleaned off all the equipment I might even turn on the Trbo and swing that over to the upgraded system.

Found out to that radios I had previously programmed for Orlando actually needed to be programmed for Waterford, guess those are going to make a return trip to me for "tweakage" inaccurate  information results in doing it over

Ah the Joy?  No thanks Did that for a few years too much work and equipment loss for it to be profitable. Depending on how classified a system is depends on if you get anything back that you took to the site! O.O Laptops included!

Fortunately nothing that classified for me. I just install the new P25 equipment and cable it up. The system techs and Federal ST get that level of fun that you are describing.

Well, after a lovely 145 mile (total) round trip for the day to renew my badges for NASA I am home.

Had some interesting rubbish thrown into the mix on the way back from the badge renewal, stopped by the new ER for ye ole hospital chain as there was a problem with the transmit power, had the TDR with us and had an odd reading on it, then put a watt meter in line and started breaking it down to try tracking down where the problem was located.

First clue that something major was wrong was that the tape pattern on the roof did not match what was in the comm room. Mind you this was after we pulled open what was the transmit (so we thought) to check the power and it was still nasty.

Well, that is when we started to compare tape on the antennas to the lines inside the room.

Yep not so very much on the matching of the tape.

Opened up the weather head and then started pulling lines to identify them, and guess what ... if you guessed that there was a mismatch on several of the lines

'ding, ding, ding ...'

You are absolutely right

As in five out of six were mismatched.

 

Made a phone call to my installer and said you get to go on a shopping trip ... and you need to pick up marking tape as in six different colors and a minimum of three rolls each so the pair of you have a roll and we have one in reserve.
Then explained to him what had happen and how to make certain that this does not happen ever again.

 

I am sorry that I am just three kinds of CDO when it comes to documentation and yes that includes when I pull in multiple runs of any type of cable or wire .... and this was really a serious wake up call that not every one thinks the same way as I do when it comes to a methodical and accurate install.

Must be due to the fact I have pulled in a large quantity of cables in the past on a regular basis, apparently the other guys are used to only doing one or two at the most, which explains why for me proper identification is second nature.
