Modeling in Anim8or: Spline and Lathe

 Two of my favorite tools in Anim8or are the “Spline” tool and “Lathe.” There are so many things that can be made with just these two tools that it would fill the page here trying to list them. In this tutorial I shall assume that you have familiarized yourself with the tools contained in the PDF manual. If not then I would suggest you do so! Today’s tutorial will be on creating a quick Birdbath for an outdoors scene. This tutorial will be creating the mesh ONLY! I will leave UV Mapping it for another tutorial later on for those who don’t know how to do so.
 
The first thing we’ll do is choose our “spline” tool. When using the spline tool for the first time it takes a bit of getting use to. With your mouse, you will “left click” creating the initial point…then “drag and release” to create the next point. Repeat this for every point there after. Another thing that should be noted here is that the “Strait” spline tool is used for low poly meshes while the “Curved” spline tool will yield higher poly counts.
