Oh, I remember now why I bought this particular motherboard.   Durability, it has all solid caps, dual BIOS, redundant power regulators on all lines, 6 SATA 3 ports and 12 USB2 ports.  The day I bought it, it was state of the art.   We all know how that goes though!  Heh!  It was a good investment I think.
It was Woohoo twice as fast and powerful as its predecessor, the AMD A64 X2 4800+ with 4 gigs DDR.  So maybe I shouldn't bother resurrecting that one.  I mean, sure I paid $1015 for the CPU when I got it, and was on a waiting list for it to be released in the first place.   Then, a pair of EVGA nvidia 7800GTX PCIe x16 vid cards and whoosh, I'm rendering in Poser 6 and DS (beta) 0.1.8nnn and 64 bits (BETA!) XP Pro 64 OEM.  The only flavor it even came in.
Running THAT machine is when I needed Linux to have a look at various things of hardware that came my way back then.   Bloody Windows.   PDG, Sir Knight, there is no need to tell you guys that M$ really pickled things up under the hood.  But, I recall that to even enable certain hardware and software they didn't like required cheating.  ergo-the Linux boot, read, set specific bits to this and that and WHAT 'warranty' ???   Oh well.  It worked.
Linux may be needed to kill M$ access and control to my W10 system.   And if I end up killing that tiny tablet, well I've borked more expensive things with one simple touch of a hot soldering iron. Soooo.  Can't hurt the $96.00 tablet too bad methinks...
(still rendering a Star Carrier scene with Pocket Star and a Genesis 2 Female Pilot, gonna be a while yet!)

Is there a definitive answer to this question:   Does Poser work in Linux?   WiNE?

Used to up to and including PP2012. Haven't tried since then. I no longer run a Linux box exclusively.

I haven't tried to boot these ISO's, so they may or may not.   Boot to optical drive on SATA or the single IDE is ok, but USB2 was new when I got this mobo.  I THINK there is a way to boot USB Flash or spinner.  Gotta read up on that.

Sounds like you're having fun too Hedd!

I am ok with dynamics not working.   So it's sort of a child process running a child process and maybe try to run a child process?   Nah it wouldn't render or go Materials Room if that was it.

Before I leave work, just wanted to post this screen capture from Fedora 29 running DAZ Studio 4.10, rendering an Iray scene:

It's only because DAZ Studio and the downloader are free.  I'll try to do a Poser install on one of the home Linux systems over Thanksgiving and show that, too.
