Gunung Padang
« on: October 10, 2019, 01:56:47 PM »
"Gunung Padang" is a site I discovered several years ago by the Hancock's site - yes, always that guy :tearlaugh:

Gunung Padang is in Indonesia, on Java island.
First time it was mentionned officially in a file, it was in 1914; but inhabitants know it since many many time.
Often, it's said than name significates "moutain field", but it's in Indonesian language. In the region, language is more sundanese, and in this case, the name significates "mountain of illumination".

I can't tell myself if it's a trully made-man or not. Photos, and even the video which I put link below aren't enough for I make a good idea for myself.

There were some ground searches in 2014, but with new governement all was stopped. Nothing was done since, according was I saw even on web.

http://www.andrewcollins.com/page/articles/gp.htm => it seems that too was made in 2014

Anyway, if ground searchers were true, there are rooms inside the pyramid.

And the age of the site is very old. I don't remember what I read exactly, except it was more than 20 000 years old. I have to search in the book I have at home to give a date.

*****
Edit: One date can be 14 700 BC. Another given by Robert Schoch (geologist) can be 22 000 BC.
The oldest possible datation by him is around what the ground team found for a layer: between 20 000 and 22 000 BC.

And I know the title of the page I'll give is "Where is Atlantis?" (for that kind of talk, Ray made a special topic ).
But on the page, almost at the top, there is a good map from "Sundaland", a part of lands covered by waters since millenia. And Java island wasn't an island more than 21000 years ago.

Thanks for the link, Aelin. Lot's of reading there  But, could we have it in the Atlantis section since it's an alternative Atlantis theory, hon?

I know, there will inevitably be overlaps in these places. I've run into a few myself in thought, trying to figure out how to set this up. But generally speaking I want to keep things where people would normally look for them. They wouldn't necessarily know about the connection between Sundaland and Gunung Padang. But as an alternative Atlantis location they possibly would look there. That's my reasoning if it makes any sense. :winks:

Found this which recounts some 'mysterious facts' about Gunung Padang - including what happened with the site's exploration. It's definitely 'mysterious' and rather suspect.

2014 was the year where Indonesia had election for a new president - the one who accepted researches on the site couldn't be elected one more time.
It's the new president, listening other archaeologists, who decided to stop everything.
