My process
« on: September 04, 2022, 03:19:36 AM »
So this is for anyone who hasn't seen my work process before. Although I used to, I don't really work in poser anymore. Now most everything I do is digital paintings. I work in a program called clip studio paint which is a lot like photoshop with a lot of different tools and features. I use a stylus and a touch screen as a drawing surface. I compose my art just like a traditional painter would doing a line drawing first and then laying down base colors. I tend to work in small areas all on different layers so if I screw something up its easy to fix. I have to say in the beginning my pieces don't look too great until I start getting the colors all blended together. Most of the time I don't use models unless it is a specific character. Below is a series of photos of my work as it progressed. I hope you all can enjoy this.

Stylus n touchscreen, the prog has a "pressure sensative" mode? for pencil scetches etc. I used to draw with pencil. did hard line, soft shading, and detail all with a single pencil.  I have seen a stylus with a slide, like an airbrush, that let you adjust pressure.  I just need that modicum of talent, to approach what you do. 8 )   Keep the baby faith, toss the bathwater.  Cheers

The reason I love 3-D Art Programs is because I can't draw a straight line without it being crooked or draw a circle that actually looks like a circle....so when someone can do what you do....I'm both impressed and envious...and always appreciated....

Yeah the program is actually pretty intuitive. It has settings that act and look like real pencil, pen and paintbrushes. I have settings that even mimic watercolor. Probably my most used utility is a fingertip smudge tool. There are also blur brushes, and blending brushes that I find a lot of use for. Because I work in layers I can layer a lot of things like hair and even shadows and light making it easy to change things around.

Indeed....I learned to use layers when using JASC....many eons ago...I've still got the huge set of 3-1/2 floppy's for it compliments of Sir Volt....I'm up to PSP22....My Great Grands use it more then I do...which is a good thing....

Being an antique I tend to get lost on layers. doing silly things like forgetting to conserve them whilst saving or collapsing them when done. misplacing a layer on another opened image, etc...
Possibly why I sit on awe of talented artists, like...Zeus.
