Title: Howler 8: helppp
Post by: Aelin on October 24, 2014, 08:37:40 AM
:ahhhh: i have a big problem when i try to instal Howler on my pc.
I have Vista.

I can take the zip folder. I unzip with code. No problem for this.

But when i try to instal, my pc have an alert.

So, i cast the zip and other to my basket; and i reload an other zip.
But i have the same result.

I try to ignore this, but is not only the fractals the problem. It's the next folder too  :cry2:

I just downloaded it and unzipped and ran it as a admin first and all works fine....I have Windows 7 but it should work on Vista I would think.

If your computer is not set up for admin permissions done check the "Run as admin" box...then install.

I did contact Mary just in case there are issues with the install.  Don't want to announce it in a Newsletter if it doesn't work for all.

Yes, when i go on their page, they tell of "Vista" and it's ok.

This release also works well on Windows 8, but still supports Windows XP and Vista as well, albeit without GPU acceleration

And I follow the way choose by installator.

i'm in the FAQ (http://www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/faq/index.html)

No similar problem at this i have. So, it's probably always my pc who is crazy  :caveman: :incoming: (for him)

What does it do, actually. I went on their website and read it and I wasn't entirely clear. Is it a photo editor or image editor where you can do special effects. That's what I gathered. But maybe I'm way off.

My pc is a c*** pc  :caveman:

I'm on the administrator profil; and i run as administrator (my pc asks me for all installations). But when i try to install setup, i have this problem.
Pc is cleaned thoroughly with CCleaner and others programs, but no change.
:opr8:

I keep the software on external disk for the moment. And one day maybe  :flagwaving:

Unclick the "Run As Administrator" and then try it.  That is what I did and it loaded fine....but like you...I have the zip saved on the external but it's now loaded on the puter also....

No possibility to unzip on my pc. So i unzip on pc that is not mine. No problem with this other pc.
I take the unzip program, and place on my pc. And my pc gives me an error message when  try to start the program. I haven't the "MSVBVM50.dll".
Normally this dll is in system32; but not in mine i have "msvbvm60.dll"). So, the next time, i try to copy the dll on the other pc.  :tearlaugh: And see if work on mine.

But i try a little the software this morning  :woohoo: I have not undertand all, but Sidherose try to explain  then it's cool!

I know, but i think it's my pc who is a rebel:
- he refused to execute Howler. I unzip and execute on other pc.
- i load Howler since other pc. Howler didn't work because the non presence of dll.
- i take the dll on pc, and now i have this message when i try to start (with and without shortcuts).
Problem is not software; it's the pc.

So now i 'bargain' for scrounge other pc few hours this week.
