Title: Poser 12 showing V4 accessories but not V4
Post by: ArtByMivan on March 28, 2021, 01:35:36 PM
I am trying to use the add content command in poser 12 for my old v4 and m4 content but the v4 base figure is not showing up. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

:lostme:  Can you make a new runtime pointing to your old runtime?

I have all of my figures in separate folders with any related content specific to that figure in separate folders within the main figure folder. I have been using the add runtime option but not all of the content shows up when I do a search in P12. So do I need to change some of the file extensions???

:lostme:  old V4 might not have the proper Png icon so it might still be there but the File is looking for a Png when V4 is a Jpg icon so it might not be showing up inside your Runtime search. See if you can add jpg to your search for Jpg maybe that is what is going on.

I can offer a suggestion but without more info this may be moot. Poser does not do nested runtimes. If I understand you correctly; you have a runtime for the main figure and nested runtimes for the stuff you use with that figure. It won't work that way.

You would place the runtimes of all the V4 clothes you use in the same runtime V4 is in for example. I haven't installed the gen4 figures in a few years. I just link the runtimes from older installations of these figures to newer installs of Poser. If this is a new install of the DAZ figures I recall from days of old that the morphs must be in the same runtime as the gen4 figure and that you must run the batch file to update and initialize the figure when you add the morph packages for the first time.
If the icon for your figure is the "shrugging man" then indeed your figure is there but the icon is the wrong format. there is a free converter at Rendo. https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/freestuff/rsr-to-png-converter/57197 which will run recursively and thus can bulk fix that issue. You will need a free account for Renderosity to download the file if you do not have one already.

No other file extensions should be changed in any way or you will break things.

A final thought is the old DAZ installers. They don't play well with most any Windows system after 7 as they try to install content into UAC protected areas. If you are linking runtimes left from those old installs then there may also be issues but I would check the nested runtime thingy first.

:woohoo: Thank you PDG for tellaing about that converter. Despite my races around freebies on Rendo, I think I never saw that one - and I have some rsr without png that I was lazy to just do thumbnails to replace them.

:fainting: A freebie you don't know. That is a surprise to me. Hope it helps.

Yeah, it happens I miss something :psycho:
It helped me a lot, with thousands of rsr that I was able to convert and then to remove them from the system.
All I have to do now is hunting them in the external for they disappear for good  :lostme:
