Simon has been able to talk mentally to cats and has successfully suggested what was wrong - our friend's vet, halfway round the world in MA USA has asked him when she's been puzzled. He's managed to save a couple of furry lives and ease some passing. He doesn't know how, but it seems to work.
His word on Dottie is that he has told her it will be all right. She likes company - not too much fussing around, but just to know someone is there.

And this is what she is getting, an occasional "diaper" change with a few strokes and how much she is loved and will be missed, but like I told her...it may be hard on us but if this is what she needs then we will survive but miss her terribly. Just so she is no longer hurting.

We can't take her to the vet since we have no money for one thing and especially no loot for putting her down. But we strived to keep them all in mind when it was their time to go, dogs, cats, birds...you name it I am a living fairy tale gal with all the animals tame or wild hanging around...LOL

oh no.. I'm so sorry to hear this. been there, it's so hard to lose a close pet. my sympathies..

Vets have become quite callous in the amounts they charge; our vet bills in UK have gone up since most have joined big consortia. We used to pay about 1/4 what I understand vet bills in the US have been for a long time; and they get snippy when you point out that if innocculated for flu and enteritis for 3 or 4 years, further boosters should be irrelevant.
She's been quietly fading. she's sorry to go but pleased that she will be free of all pain and tiredness.
