Poser file setup in Daz
« on: July 05, 2016, 07:48:57 AM »
Does anyone know how to set up the my library folder in daz to accept poser content? Ive downloaded items but hardly any work properly as the folders dont seem to be organised properly. i get error messages from daz that say it cant locate a needed file even though its there and in the folder it is meant to be in. it seems to me that poser wants the files to be in a specific place and daz doesnt have that place even though content is supposed to be portable. any ideas?

What does version of Daz you use?

If it's DS3, i never could work with runtime in Poser (10 or 11).

If it's DS4, normally a part of the runtime is available. In fact, all can be loaded (for what i saw), but weigh characters (like Roxie, Pauline, Dawn version for Poser...) can't work in.

If it's an architecture file, perhaps Daz can't find alone a little part, like a ball of a square. In this case, it's because the stuff was created in Poser.

Had you do this below to select the runtime of Poser?

Oh i see. The problem comes in the code of pp2. Look it's
"/short_bob_brown.jpg"

The path is too much short. This happens sometimes with some products. Why, i haven't clue.
You need to try to modify yourself the code (keep a copy of the base in another folder in any case). So:
- open your pp2 (here short bob V3) in notepad if possible.
- make ctrl+F and write .jpg     This is to find .textures one after others. Because i'm afraid this texture isn't alone.
- Now, each time you find a .jpg, you have several possibilities on how the path is really written:
    * "/short_bob_brown.jpg"
    * ":short_bob_brown.jpg"
    * /short_bob_brown.jpg
It's important if you have "" to keep these. But inside you change your path. Start of your runtime, i don't know how you made it, but it can be something like this:
Runtime:Textures:Shortbob:short_bob_brown.jpg
I don't know exactly the name of the folder for your textures here. So you need to look in your runtime. The name of all folders between Runtime and your jpg texture needs to be present.
- Then do a test with your changed pp2. If another thing is asked, look what it is. Some stuffs can ask time, but normally not hair. The good new in your case, it's Daz found the geometry; it's a step in less.

I'm sorting my runtime on external time to time these last weeks. I have sometimes this kind of surprise too.

Ive got Daz 4.9 and Ive set up the directories like you said but its not working. An example is kozaburo's hair models:
As I can see, DAZ Studio can load the hair but can't find a texture file.
If you click on 'Stop Asking', the hair should be loaded, but without texture.
Did you already use this hair set with poser and did you have the same issue ?
