File Placement Poser Pro2012
« on: November 07, 2013, 01:13:50 AM »
Ok so I know I cant move the geometry or texture files to any where except where they unzip to but what about the CR2, fc2's, hr2's, hd2's,and pz2's for textures?
Can I move these round or will they not work if say I move the CR2 for a dress to the prop folder?

Don't have 2012 version but I do know that in Poser 9 I can move my geometry files out of the CR2 (character folder) or the pp2 (prop folder), when found in those folders to a created folder of the same name to the geometry folder.

I would surmise that the worst thing that might happen is that you would either get the "shrugging shoulder" icon in those folders if a file type not normally associated with it, is in there or it would not show up at all.

Not a bad thing to do since as mentioned that is what I know from earlier versions of Poser, as I have never owned a Pro version.

You can move ANY Poser file to anywhere on your computer that you like. Just make sure the internal dependencies remain the same. Otherwise you'll need to edit them yourself in notepad.

Example Code:

  prop figureHair:1
            {
            storageOffset 0 0.3487 0
            objFileGeom 0 0 :Runtime:Geometries:Michelle:ChocoHair:ChocoHair.obj
            }

I use Notepad++ for all of my editing. Poser does not go through great lengths to hide the content of their files.

"Where" exactly do you want to move them to? If you want to move them to another runtime folder somewhere else on your machine, it is as dRaCX said: as long as you point the library to look in that location for those files, Poser will find them.

However, if I'm reading you correctly several questions come to mind. Why would you want to put a conforming dress in 'Props'? Why would you move these files out of the directories where Poser is set up to look for them? You CAN create textures and either leave them in the Materials library as .mc6 files, or you can put them in the Pose library as .pz2 files but you have to edit them and change 'mtlCollection' at the top (that is an .mc6) to 'figure' and then do a Save As filename.pz2. Pretty sure you can change 'figure' back to 'mtlCollection' and Save As an filename.mc6. But that's a LOT of work if you're moving very many files. And what if you mess up? I don't understand why you would want to do this, Dreamer.

Poser has an internal command set that tells it where to look for certain files and if you start moving them around to where they're not supposed to be, it won't find them.
