I remember when Corel Draw was probably the biggest game in town along with Jasc Software (which created a number of good paint software) and another paint program that I can't remember but not Photoshop cause it wasn't out yet. But Corel was as popular as Photoshop is now and had a few different drawing programs combined into it much like Microsoft Office.

Then they bought out Jasc which owned Paint Shop Pro, their flagship software which I loved using...and was FREE back then. After that they made people pay for it. It was and still is a good program. But I'm getting older and tend to forget back then. So many things have changed since then. LOL

I've got the old versions of JASC on CD safely tucked away.   With a ton of addins......

Adobes program, which is great mind you....is a little harder then PSP....but as I said...Still great...even it it's the CS2 version LOL...Right "J".

And I was just telling "J" that PSP X4 is out for a $39.99 upgrade if you have X2....

I'm sure might have some of the older versions somewhere. Hell, I've got a ton of shareware games and other software and even DOS on 5 1/4 in floppies in my attic. Got lots of old books and hardware too. Got an OKIDATA wide dot matrix printer up there too along with some other old hardware.

:tearlaugh:  So that means you also had aversion to those who got to close to the plug outlet of your Apple whilst you were working on something...because it didn't have a hard drive...and if you weren't dedicated to saving every 5 minutes on a disc....your boss, who was 250lbs overweight and couldn't do corners good...would come by and trip over the plug...each and every time.  I think he did it on purpose....:tearlaugh:

Sounds like you and I have the same collection.  I convinced the plant to keep our 5-1/4 reader JIC...and low and behold...they did use it again .... but since then I've convinced them to invest on a external drive and we can transfer it all...even if the format can't be read anymore :java:

Actually, when I got my first PC (a Texas Instruments 99/4A) I could not afford a hard drive and had to type in EVERYTHING and play the games or use the software as long as I could cause if I turned it off I'd lose everything! Some software I could afford, mostly games ($5-20 or so I could afford) but I used it mostly as a gaming device.

I used to buy Compute! magazine which had a lot of software printed in it every month in machine language (ML) or BASIC code. Both were not very readable by me! LOL Anyways, I'd spend an hour or so typing in a game to play it only to find out I made a mistake somewhere. :( To make matters worse, you didn't have browsers or editors that showed a red squiggly line under everything you made a mistake on. Even worse the number zero and the large letter "O" looked exactly the same as did the small letter "L" and the number one!!!

After about a of year, I was typing in a game one day and noticed that the magazine had a mistake in the typing. I corrected it and the game worked as expected. After palying the game for awhile it dawned on me that I actually knew how to fix it without knowing any coding! I was speechless. Then I realized that I was actually learning something other than just killing the boss in a game. I started learning more to the point were I could almost make a small game by myself!

Today, I don't code anymore, things have changed so much and I didn't have the time to keep up. But I still play a lot of old games. ;)

I think "J" still buys the magazines that has the freebies  :java:

I'm a RPGAholic ..... Still have the original Atari with 55 games...such as Bump n Jump, Pitfall, ET, Yars, and MegaMania....The daughter borrows it once a month to play games she can beat LOL.

Yup...Times have changed...but luckily I love my computers and gizmos.

Actually, there are a lot of mags (mostly from the U.K.) that still have freebies. ;)

RPG games are my fav too. Been playing Zelda: Skyward Sword for he Wii and Assassin's Creed  for the PC lately. But I have tons of RPG games even back to the all text ones...pre-ZORK, etc. ;)
