Title: What to expect from PoserPro 11.2 and more...
Post by: DarkAngel on September 18, 2019, 03:35:20 PM
More Rosity NEWS!

What to expect from Poser Pro 11.2

The Poser Pro 11.2 update will be released Thursday morning, Sept. 19 for some versions above Poser 10.

Poser Pro 11.2 is a "bridge" release, which means it does not contain epic new features, but rather bridges differences between the old Smith Micro version and the new Bondware version of Poser.

But the main reason for the update is the depreciation of Smith Micro's licensing system and implementation of Bondware's licensing management for some versions above Poser 10 (Poser 2014 Game Dev, Poser 11, and Poser Pro 11). This update will convert your Poser to Poser Pro 11.2 at no additional cost.

If you have Poser 10 or below you do not have to update. Upgrades are $99 and can be found at PoserSoftware.com/store (https://www.posersoftware.com/store).

Main Changes
• Streamlined menus (We removed broken links and added links to the official forums, support, and the Renderosity community.)
• Rebranded from Smith Micro to Bondware
• New licensing management
• New Help PDFs
• Streamlined internal and external content search (Now you can easily search Renderosity for new content from within the program.)
• Refactored minimum basic runtime to improve performance (We reduced folder depth and removed redundant files.)
• 21-day free trial feature added
• Restored HDRI rendering option for Firefly
• Control props for Figure grouped under Props listing
• La Femme is the new default figure
• 8+ gigs of new content, including Superfly lights by Blackhearted; HiveWire3D's Dawn, Dusk and Baby Luna figures; HiveWire3D's Gorilla for Dusk; and HiveWire3D's Horse; and the original toon figure Maisie
• In total, there is more than 15 gigs of additional content, which includes legacy content, like older figures, clothing and other assets that were previously included with Poser.

Bug fixes
• With importing some Python scripts
• Removed broken height and gen menus
• Streamlined the installer
• Removed license/registration requirement on Queue Manager (for network rendering on other computers)
• Fixed issues with figures with animated origins affecting toon characters.

A brief history of Poser with Larry Weinberg

A Brief History of Poser
Larry Weinberg changed the course of computer graphics when he asked himself: Why not make a digital mannequin? Then he turned the experience and knowledge he had gained at his day job as a programmer and animator in Hollywood to build the first version of Poser.

An interview with Poser's Content Manager & Beta Team lead

To get Poser 11.2 ready for wide release, the beta team worked to find and report any bugs. The team is led by Jenn Blake, who also works as Renderosity's marketplace manager. She paused from herding the beta testers and securing additional content to talk about her history growing from a Poser user to being an integral part of the Poser team.

So if I understand, my old Poser 10 will stay with its old licence key?

Anyway, that's a great gift for Poser owners that Rendo is doing here.

The thing I don't like is "Streamlined internal and external content search"; I don't like it from Daz already, so that same in Poser. I hope we can turn that off.

What trial feature?  :lostme:

I'll miss Andy when loading for the new scene. My hope is LaFemme won't take forever to load, but we'll see that sooner.

Well, I see all that in few days now. Time to see if the servers don't become like high ways at rush hour :tearlaugh:

I have a question, we lost our house in a fire and we are now in an area that has really slow internet.  Can I download the upgrade tomorrow and download the new content at a later date?  This internet connection would make downloading a huge amount of content nearly impossible.

I remove Andy from the main window and load it empty with ground and shadows invisible.

Thank you for the 2 answers in the same time RobZhena  :likeyou:

TheKatster, I'm sorry for the fire which reached your house.
I think that download not tomorrow but in next days is possible. Or I'll have problems myself :tearlaugh:
But isn't it possible also to load what we need only from content, and take the rest after? At least it's what I understood from another piece of news recently. So basically, if it's the case, you can take the base of Poser to activate your new licence number; and later take  some parts of runtime.

I do have an external that I can take to my sister's to download what I need on the weekend if need be.  It's exciting that poser will be revamped.

I think that when you get the downloader to update the actual program and enter your serial number then you use the updater to also update the other things too. I got the stuff earlier thinking I needed to also but I was able to download the individual zips for my mac:
Install Poser 11 Update.pkg
PoserAnimals.pkg
PoserCasual.pkg
PoserClothing.pkg
PoserContentUpdate.pkg
PoserHair.pkg
PoserNudes.pkg
PoserProps.pkg

I also grabbed the pc ones should I end up with a pc again. daughters use Poser 10 on one comp and the other doesn't have it anymore.

I may need to redownload them once they get things done so I don't have to do a nightly update...too lazy LOL

YES, your old Poser 10 will be fine.   Poser Pro 2014 Game Dev had to do the new version thing, as well as all P11/PP11 users.
BUT, the new BondWare version, PP 11.2.272 is running happy as can be.  If you have previously bought P11/PP11 your Key will automagically port right over.  You're great on that, just DL the new one and install it.  The new WILL (or is supposed to) uninstall the old P11 first then install the new.  This is mainly a license issue for the change of ownership.   No huge feature changes.

Aelin, did you ever even notice the Content Search before?  It was there, just didn't perform well.  It does now, but you can continue to ignore it if you wish.  :o)

La Femme adorned PP 11 from the beginning.  Turns out, that is what the splash screen has had for three years!  And I thought it a portrait in Poser of Syyd!  Silly me!

Honest, been working with La Femme for a few days straight now, pushing on PP 11 every way I can.   And loading Genesis 2 Female with V4 and LaFemme in same scene, pop in a big set from Jack Tomalin, then D&M, then Stonemason... not one single crash.  I am gobsmacked!   They been fixing bugs too!  They really HAVE!    I'm KooKoo for Poser now, KooKoo for Poser now, KooKoo for Poser NOW!  ;o)

Oh no!   I am sorry to hear about the fire, thekatster.   But very glad you and yours are ok!

As long as you got your license Key, no worries on the whenever you can thing, I'd think.    There IS a lot of new content, and it even warmed up my phone downloading it all at about 4.6 MBps!   Through my PHONE for petes sake!  LOL!   But yes, a file here, one there, no biggie.  Its what most folks do, actually.
You could, for instance, plan it out.  Go have a look at all the files there, the top ones are the new items, the bottom ones, the ZLegacyxxxxxxxxxx files are all the old stuff that Poser normally comes packed with.  You probably have it already installed.  But, not so the new stuff at top.  Just do what ya can when ya can.   It's THERE now.  Its new home.  And hopefully y'all will be in your new home soon too!

Hey Mary!   Good seeing you here and there!

It's LIVE!   finally!   It's all good now.   They even fixed a pile of old bugs for us!   S-M owned Poser a long time, I hope BondWare will too!

Oh I was wondering about the bottom files, I had them all saved and installed them when I reinstalled Poser on my new computer so those can wait.  I also downloaded the major poser files overnight while I was sleeping and voila, there they were in the morning.  I think I'll wait a while before I reinstall Daz because my bandwidth is creaking right now.  We are still waiting on the insurance company to do their thing before we can plan on what to do but it looks like we won't be out of here until the spring.. sigh.

11.3.818 was the final P11 update. At least that's what mine says. This is a rather old thread after all.
