A Better BBQ Rib Sauce
« on: January 07, 2014, 08:09:08 AM »
Think your BBQ sauce is the best? Not until you add this...

1.  Add your fav rub or seasonings to a rack of ribs.

2.  Wrap them tightly in foil and let sit for 30 mins or up to overnight in the fridge.

3.  Bake at 350° F for one hour or 250° F for 1.5 - 2 hours.

4.  Let rest for 10 minutes then very carefully open the foil...the steam can cause burns!

5.  Pour the accumulated juices into a small pot and reduce it over medium heat until thickened.

Now, you can do this one of 2 ways:

1.  Add to your fav sauce. This will even make store-bought sauces will taste awesome! Baste onto your ribs while broiling or grilling until slightly charred...usually a few minutes per side.

OR

2.  Brush the reduced rib juices (do not add to BBQ sauce) onto the ribs and broil or grill until nicely glazed. You can eat the ribs just like this or then brush on your fav BBQ sauce on top and broil/grill a few more minutes.

Not only does it flavor it...but that meat just falls off the bones and what a great great meal that makes.

I do the same thing with Spare Ribs....  Wrap each one individually in it's own sauce, set it over night in the fridge and put it in the oven to cook nice and slow.  When you unwrap it you know you have a great treat coming your way....YUM.  Might go shopping for spare ribs today :tearlaugh:  (If the SUV starts :thud:)

Don't do ribs often so might have to get on the band wagon for some variety.

They are so simple and fast to make and they do cook faster when in the foil with the sauce on them.  Then heat up a potato or put on some rice...and your in heaven...and yes, I picked a package up today and will have them tomorrow night since they are all nicely wrapped in the fridge with the sauce just seeping in....  Plus that great smell of BBQ Sauce is a big plus and the neighbors all wonder whose cooking something that smells that great....

And you can bet I don't tell them...

These are MY ribs  :tearlaugh: :tearlaugh:

Snicker fortunately my neighbors are two houses away on either side of me ... I have vacant property on either side ... so they have no clue as the aroma has dissipated by the time it gets that far.

Well, unless I am on the grill as I am the only one with one of those in the block.

However, none have figured it out yet :tearlaugh:

Too right but then again for reasons unknown very few interact with me

Must be that long hair and handlebar mustache that throws them for a loop :tearlaugh:

Either that or the fact that I am seldom home due to the hours I keep :thud:

So which are the next set of ribs worthwhile, as I have already done lamb.

So is beef better then pork or the other way round.

Or is it just a personal thing and that both are equally tasty?
