Dearest Dr J:
Thus far, you've been of immense help, which I thank you greatly for...but now onto my next problem.  I've got my runtimes separated..(not completely loaded, but loaded enough to start playing) and I've loaded some of my external runtimes into the library.  Now, I want to work with some different stuff and I don't want all of the runtimes I loaded to keep loading (I'm using Poser 8 here).  How do I remove the runtimes I don't need from the library?

How to remove runtime in P8

Removing Libraries
The Remove Library button appears when a library other than the Poser default libraries is selected. You cannot delete the default Poser library. Deleting libraries only severs the link between the Library folders and the Library palette. It does not remove any of the folders or content from your hard drive. This protects your data from accidental deletion and allows you to reuse Libraries at need (such as from removable drives). If you want to remove the Library from your hard drive completely, you will need to do this manually by deleting the folder and contents from your hard drive. Exercise extreme caution when deleting library folders from your hard drive, as they will be irretrievably lost.

To remove a library:

Use the 1. Show Library list to select the Library that you want to delete.

Click the 2. Remove Library button (minus sign) to remove the selected Library from the Library palette. The name of the library is removed from the Show Library list, and its contents no longer appear in the Library.

In previous versions this showed up automatically at the bottom of the pallet.

It is only loading a link to the location and it is only when you click on the runtime that it loads.
I currently have 30 different runtimes in Poser 7 and I really do not get much drag time when I switch from one runtime to another.
So not really sure why you want to delete them unless you do have minor performance issues with RAM and so forth.

Well, I took a look at my (*clears throat*) Poser 6 runtime... No, belay that... my old poser 6 directory and lo and behold, found all sorts of craps and things that got lost when once upon a time people didn't zip up their product properly. (Some still don't today) So I spent the whole day Saturday, carefully putting them in the proper places... One item that seems to be all over the place is the readmes; they're in the runtime, in the libraries, in the main directory.... the directories have various spellings like Readme, readme, Read_Me, ReadMes, ReadMe's... etc. and also libraries, such as libaries, library, librares, etc.  Ok... now having cleared up those situations and problems, I've now notice items that were never noticed before. V3 hand poses that I've installed about 4 yrs ago... Oh drats!!!! :thud:  :tearlaugh:
Well, I'm gonna take a look at my Poser 7 and pro directory this weekend. See if I can pull off the same miracle that I did this past weekend. :tearlaugh:

what I used to do was drop all readmes into a readme folder which meant I had to rename some that were just plain readme.txt but lately what I do is put the readme into the products textures folder and templates too if they come with them. that way they are with the item in case I need to read it or if I should ever get into texturing again...lol

they take up no more room and are not in the way

As mentioned in the previous topics that is what I do also, one each Master Read me folder in each of the separate runtimes and all of them stored there renamed if needed. If there are any promo pictures with the read me I typically leave all in the folder it came in and then relocate the whole thing to my Master folder.
