Content for Mac
« on: July 01, 2013, 10:40:51 AM »
Could someone be so kind as to show me the difference between file structures for Mac and PC? I can't find a conversion tool that runs on windows so I guess I'll have to take the long road and do it by hand.

Oops.... This is about Poser & Daz content. I forgot to mention that...LOL

I use primarily a Mac...lol PC second only cause Mac is so old and slow.

In the beginning you needed to convert the poser content with mac converter but with the onset of about Poser5 or 6 and the OS 9+ we have not needed to convert at all. Especially now that the latest geatest macs used both windows/mac boy how I want one of them.

anyway back to the subject. There is no conversion needed anymore, we can use most of the Poser/Daz files without trouble and If there is a problem it will be in the actual texture mats/shaders where the testing coughs up a storm.

Hope that helps some, myself, NitaB maybe a few others round here use a mac.

Thank you both for your help.

I think I read something about rsr files to png for Mac but that's easy. Just trying to make sure that things I make work for as many people as possible. I use to compile my content as an easy installer but due to Daz and it's cluster of files and folders all over a HD, I gave up trying to make them easier. Now I just rap them up in a Runtime folder.

Thank you Nitab. I just might take you up on that from time to time. Thank you again ladies, you were most helpful!

nope rsr files are no longer needed unless the person has Poser 5 and under

just the normal files and .ds ones for those that also use them in poser play

.rsr no longer needed just the .png for the little image to see what the files are to look like is what I meant

I also forgot to mention...when packing up the product for mac...it can not be in .exe form (unless the mac user has the split OS comp) it must be in runtime hierarchy of folders in .zip format --- .rar are still iffy to open on some macs.

so no .rsr's are needed and no .exe

I think that is it.

Have you no shame? You have a MAC and more software to find issues then the US Government dude. LOL
I can't believe I just read the mighty dRaCX ask for help! LOL

Yeah I know, but my minions are on vacation at the moment....LOL  I thought I'd turn to the little people for a change...LOL "not the minions."

Nitab....He's pulling your leg sweetie, I don't have any apple products whatsoever. I run windows and linux SuSe 10.1

Thank you DA! I have about every kind of file compression known to mankind but I use 7zip most of the time because it lets me use more than one type of extension.
