This isn't a program I use, but I think it can be a good alternative for people having an hesitation with the new price of Vue

https://pixelforest.itch.io/flowscape

That video is a good way to show some possibilities. BUt you have also human structures, animals...

The video below helps to cover most of "buttons" and functions in version 1.3.

Just a little difference between the 1.3 version, and the actual 1.5 version: the icon to go to sculpt a terrain is no more a '4 squares' but is now '3 white slides on dark color'.

When Flowscape opens also (takes 5 good minutes on my machine), you have a lot of useful informations given with. Like "L" button to lock/unlock objects.

******
Also, the program is 3.6 Go these last times, when it's in zipped pack.
Once unzipped, it's above 5Go. That's because of all buildings, trees, plants, animals... offered.

But when you start to work with, it seems the program keeps somewhere a part of memory of what you are doing, and you can add several Go for that. I don't know yet where it's.
Nope, it was probably a whim of my machine for few days

Even if I didn't open Flowscape since a while, I looked today few tutos on it. And the video below shows me an option I even didn't yet see with other tutos, or by my own tests: how to cover a part of the "map" with plants easily.
But more than that, that video can interest people playing D&D, or any other similar game, like Milos.

The showed grid is the simple with squares, but there is another option with octogons.
