Backing up your filters
« on: January 18, 2016, 02:18:10 PM »
This was asked in another part of the forum and thought to enter it here for ease of finding.

You can relate to the fact that although the computers are marvelous inventions and have come a long way baby, they are also alive and tend to be mean to us ... die or require us to reinstall EVERYTHING at times.

This is what you can do to BACKUP those filters --- but remember there are always more being added so wander to Filter Forge site and check out what new one they have uploaded.

Can you save a backup of your filters in your FF filter library and then after re-installing just put them back in there?

Yes, there is a possibility to backup your downloaded filters and then restore them back in FF.

(for MAC)

1. Go to Finder > Go > Go to Folder.
2. Type / (slash) and click Go > Users > Your_User_Name > Library > Application Support > Filter Forge 5 (or 4 or 3, any version you use) > System > Library.
3. Copy all the .ffxml files and save them in any safe folder.
4. Here comes the process of restoring Filter Forge.
5. Copy all the saved .ffxml files into the Your_User_Name > Library > Application Support > Filter Forge 5 (or 4 or 3, any version you use) > System > Library folder.

(for Windows)
1. Go to C:\Your_User_Name\Program Files (x86)\Filter Forge 5 (or any version)\Resources\System\Library
2. Copy all the .ffxml files and save them in any safe folder.
3. Here comes the process of restoring Filter Forge.
4. Copy all the saved .ffxml files into the C:\Your_User_Name\Program Files (x86)\Filter Forge 5 (or any version)\Resources\System\Library

Another tidbit...if you have the basic version you can only create and use filters but unfortunately you can not save them. This is the advantage of upgrading to the Pro version... then you can create your filters, save them and upload them to their site for others too.

Thankyou. My filters in PSP do not work as well as they used to. I loved XP but hate W8 as nothing works.
