Selective EyeDropping

Adobe InDesign CS3 Tip -

from Layers Magazine tip of the day

I had just finished formatting a paragraph with 11 point type, 12 points of Leading in Adobe Garamond Pro Regular with Optical Kerning in the Character panel (Type>Character).

Then I added 8 points of Space After in the Paragraph panel (Type>Paragraph) along with several other settings.

Is there a way to make the Eyedropper tool (I) pick up and apply all of my formatting from the Character and Paragraph panel, yet ignore just the Space After? Yes, but only if you tell the tool exactly what you have in mind.

Before putting the Eyedropper to work, double-click on the tool to change its settings. In the Eyedropper Options window that opens, click the arrow next Paragraph Settings to reveal the individual setting from the Paragraph panel.

Uncheck just "Space Before/After" and press OK. Now when you click in your formatted copy with the Eyedropper, you pick up all formatting except Space Before/After.

Then click and drag across all type to which you'd like to apply the formatting. This selects the text and applies just the formatting you'd like and nothing more.

Note: If you give this a try, please reset your Eyedropper Options after you're done. I'm trying to avoid those emails about broken Eyedroppers.

I use to but so busy in the other place I never had time to read them or do anything with them.  That is why I like the idea of a learning center.

One thing we should do is make sure we have some fort of 'FLOW CHART" showing folks how to get where.  Once we get established it will be easy to make in MS Works or Word and can be put up as a PDF file for all to see.

Saving the file in Poser just saves it as a Poser file ..... which is why PS CS3 can't read them ....

You need to choose FILE >> EXPORT IMAGE for a choice of file formats ...... then your programs can be happy again ....
