Interesting, in the contest gallery I see covers with a barcode on. Where I live the books have the barcode on the backcover and not on the front cover.

Hmmm, according to google:

Books, Magazines and Newspapers

 Book ISBN barcodes are placed on the book's reverse cover in the lower right area. Magazines and newspapers ISSN number barcodes are printed on the front cover at the bottom.

I never really noticed before but then it has been a long time since I got comics of any kind. I can't remember but when they sold Tales From The Crypt and the others like that in the 60's and 70's?? -- not the  newer ones they redid, I think there was none...I can't remember if Ghost Rider had them. That set of comics were what got my Crystal to take and interest in reading more since her Dyslexia gave intereference otherwise...LOL

Yes that is the case. When I look at the title (August 2023 Contest ~ BOOK LOVERS ~ Create Your Own Book Cover~) of the contest it is about book covers.

Of course it is not a problem for me.

I am also not in these comics anymore.

When I was a teenager (already 'some' years ago) there was a weekly comic magazine with a lot of different story parts (2 pages a week). There was scifi story in and was difficult to wait every week for the next week issue. I was always looking forward to the next week. Later created comics books with that whole story in and in the magazine there was already a new story running of it.

I haven't purchased a comic book since the late 60s and have no idea about bar code placements. I don't recall them being on them at all when I was younger.

Nope....Back in time they had no barcodes.  Placement of the barcodes nowadays depends on the publishing company.  Some are in the front, some are in the back....
