Frozen fruit smoothies
« on: March 19, 2011, 04:14:05 PM »
Or if you wish to use fresh fruit you can combine both fresh and frozen.

There are no real measurements --- these are all approximates -- for you are the judge as to how sweet or thick you want to make it. And whether you want to create for yourself of a few others too.

In a blender combine

1 bag of frozen fruit (Dole strawberries and bananas work really well)
approximately 2 c milk
1 can evaporated milk (Pet Milk is great)-- can be left out but gives it a creamier feel/taste
1/4 c granulated sugar
approx. 2c fruit juice (Dole strawberry/banana/pineapple juice is tasty)

if using only fresh fruit then substitue ice cubes for the frozen fruit

you may need to do these is  parts so that you don't overflow so cut in half for each bit.

blend on high until the fruit is well blended.

optional item to add is half a small container of CoolWhip to the belder or in a pitcher when you finish blending, before pouring to give it a thicker creamy taste.

serves 6-8  or more if not using large glasses.

different combinations of fruit/juice will give a totally different taste

To make it more of an "adult" drink add Rum, vodka or try a liquor of your choice

Nope not into them in the least

my daughters love one called orange julius. I tried it and several other smoothies and nope did not like them at all.

But this is a recipe that we use here all the time and it tastes 100% better than the ones you can buy in town...I love these. You regulate how fruity, how much milk/if you want the evaporated one too or not and adding the coolwhip or not.

that is why the measurement are what we use here for the 3 of us and the dogs even get a little bit. If we want to we add more bananas or use a different juice. If you want to actually get chunks of the fruit that is frozen then don't grind it as much.

but these are good, almost like a fruity milkshake -- we have also added icecream before too

They're hit or miss for me, some are delicious, others just blah.

This one looks promising may give it a shot. Banana's and strawberries are usually a win for me.
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
