Space is an uneasy way to travel. While things may seem mundane, at any time drastic things could happen from asteroids hitting the ship, mechanical break down being attacked by pirates, other lifeforms that eat living beings, or unfriendly planets for political reasons. So when traveling in space it is wise to keep up your guard and have plenty of ammunitions to fight off problems along with parts to keep you flying.
